Do not use provided power supply units with other equipment. Charging The Battery Pack 1 Make sure you unplug th e camcorder’ s DC cord from the AC P ower Adapter/Charger .

18 EN Master P age: Left T he camcorder needs to be powered up to load or eject a cassette. 1 Loosen the grip str ap. 2 Slide and hold OPEN/EJECT in the direction of the arrow , then pull the cassette holder cover open until it locks. T he cassette holder opens automatically .
EN 19 Master P age: Right T he prov ided memory card is alread y inserted in the camcorder at the time of purchase. 1 Make sure the camcor der’ s power is off. 2 Slide to open the card cover (MEMOR Y C ARD). 3 T o load a memory card , firmly insert it with its clipped edge first.

22 EN Master P age: Left T ape Remaining T ime Approximate tape remain ing time appears on the displa y . “– h – – m” means the camcorder is calculating the remaining time. When the remaining time reaches 2 minutes, the indication starts blinking.
EN 23 Master P age: Right Ti me C o de During recording, a time code is recorded on the tape. T his code is to confirm the location of the recorded scene on the tape during playbac k. If recording starts from a blank portion, the time code begins counting from “00:00:00” (minute:second:frame).

EN 29 Master P age: Right-Heading0 D.S.C. PLA YBA CK Images shot with the cam corder are automatically numbered, then stored in numerical order in the memory card. Y ou can view the stored images, one at a time, much like flipping through a photo album.
30 EN Master P age: Left Y ou can view several different files stored in the memory card at a time. This bro wsing capability makes it easy to locate a particular file you want. 1 P erform steps 1 – 4 in “Normal Pla yback Of Images” ( 墌 pg. 29).

SQUEEZE * : F or pla ybac k on TVs with an aspect ratio of 16:9. Naturally expands the image to fit the screen without distortion.

EN 41 Master P age: Right-Heading0 PLA YBA CK MENUS VIDEO Playback sound During tape playbac k, th e camcorder detects the sound mode in whic h the recording was made, and pla ys the sound back. Select the type of sound to accompany y our pla yback picture.

EN 43 Master P age: Right-Heading0 FEA TURES FOR RECORDING Once the camcorder is set, the ca mcorder operator can become part of the scene in a more natural wa y , adding the final touch to a memorable picture. 1 Set the P ower Switc h to “ M ” while pressing down the Lock Button located on the switch.
44 EN Master P age: Left T his feature lets you record still images that look like photographs onto a tape. 1 Set the Recording Mode Switch to “HD”, “SD” or “D V”. 2 Set the P ower Switc h to “ A ” or “ M ” while pressing down the Lock Button located on the switch.
EN 45 Master P age: Right Like the pupil of the human eye, the iris contra cts in well-lit environments to keep too much light from entering, and dilates in dim environments to allow in more light. Use this function in the following situations: ● When shooting a moving subject.
46 EN Master P age: Left Changing the shutter speed manually allows a fast- moving subject to be shot as if it is stationary , or to be intentionally blurred for vivid playbac k. 1 Set the P ower Switc h to “ M ” while pressing down the Lock Button located on the Switch.

48 EN Master P age: Left T he wh ite balance that refers to the correctness of color reproduction under various lighting. If the white balance is correct, all other colors will be accurately r eproduced. T he white balance is usually adjusted automatically .
EN 49 Master P age: Right Adjust the white balance manually w hen shooting under various types of lighting. 1 Set the P ower Switc h to “ M ” while pressing down the Lock Button located on the switch. 2 Open the LCD monitor fully , or pull out the viewfinder fully .
50 EN Master P age: Left Wipe/F ader effects let you make pro-s tyle scene transitions. Use them to spice up the transition from one scene to the next. Wipe or F ader works when video r ecording is started or stopped. T here are 9 types of F ader/Wipe Effects for scene transition.

EN 55 Master P age: Right Using an i.LINK cable (optional), it is possible to dub recorded scenes in D V format from the camcorder onto another video unit equipped with i.LINK connector . Since a di gital si gnal is sent, there is little if any image or sound deterioration.
56 EN Master P age: Left T o use this camcorder as a r ecorder Dubbing from other devices in MPEG2 format is possible if the connected device is another same model of this unit. It is also possible to dub in MPEG2 format from a D-VHS VCR, if the source tape (D-VHS) has been orig inally dubbed from this digital HD video camera in MPEG2 format.
