6 EN Master P age: Left How T o Use The Audio Cable When using optional headphones, connect to the provided Audio cable (with a core filter attached), then connect the Audio cable to the camcorder . The core filter reduces interference. How T o Attach The Grip Belt 1) Remove the pad and separate the tw o straps.

EN 9 Master P age: Right-start A UTOMA TIC DEMONSTRA TION Automatic Demonstr ation takes place when “DEMO MODE” is set to “ON” (factory-preset). 䡲 Automatic Demonstration starts w hen there is no operation for about 3 minutes after the P ower Switch is set to “ A ” or “ M ” and no cassette is in the camcorder .
Master P age: Left-start 10 EN GETTING ST ARTED T his camcorder’ s 2-way po wer supply system lets you c hoose the most appropriate source of power . Do not use provided power supply units with other equipment. Charging The Battery Pack 1 Make sure you unplug th e camcorder’ s DC cord from the AC P ower Adapter/Charger .
EN 11 Master P age: Right Using The Battery Pack 1 Align the battery pack’ s two notches with the tabs on the camcorder’ s battery p ack mount. 2 Insert the terminal end 1 of the battery pack into the battery pack mount. 3 Firmly push the end 2 of the battery pac k until it locks into place.
12 EN Master P age: Left-Heading0 1 Loosen the belt. 2 P ass your right hand through the loop and grasp the grip. 3 Adjust your thumb and fingers through the grip to easily operate the Recording Start/Stop Button, P ower Switch and P ower Zoom (SHUTTLE SEARCH) Ring.

EN 19 Master P age: Right Ti me C o d e During recording, a time code is recorded on the tape. T his code is to confirm the location of the recorded scene on the tape during playbac k. If recording starts from a blank portion, the time code begins counting from “00:00:00” (minute:second:frame).

EN 21 Master P age: Right Shuttle Search Allows high-speed searc h in either direction durin g video playbac k. 1) During play back, turn the SHUTTLE SEARCH Ring to the right ( 5 ) for forward sear ch, or to the left ( 3 ) for reverse searc h. 2) T o resume normal playback, press 4 / 9 .

MONO TON E : Like classic black and w hite films, your footage is shot in B/W . Used together with the Cinema mode, it enhances the “classic film” effect.
EN 35 Master P age: Right Zooming ZOOM (F actory-preset: 40X ) 10X : When set to “10X” while using digital zoom, the zoom magnification will reset to 10X since digital zoom will be disengaged.

EN 37 Master P age: Right Wide mode WIDE MODE (F actory-preset: OFF ) OFF : Records with no change in the screen ra tio. F or pla yback on a TV with a normal screen ratio. CINEMA * : Inserts blac k bands at the top and bottom of the screen. T he indicator appears.

However , correct focus may not be obtainable in the situations listed below (in these cases perform “Manual F ocus”): ● When two subjects ov erlap in the same scene.
44 EN Master P age: Left Manual exposure control is recommended in the following situations: ● When shooting using reverse lighting or w hen the background is too bright. ● When shooting on a reflective natur al background such as at the beach or w hen skiing.
EN 45 Master P age: Right Backlight compensation brightens the subject quickly . Press BACK L IG HT . The indicator is displa yed and the subject is brightened.
