6 Getting Started Support for P oE (P ower o ver Ethernet) This camera suppor ts P oE (IEEE802.3af) and enables power supply thr ough a LAN cable. T Connect to AC 24 V when using the heater . 16 Getting Started Surveillance Usin g Built-in Vie wer This unit comes with a built-in ActiveX JPEG View er and MPEG4 Viewer . JPEG images and MPEG4 images of the camera can be monitored using the computer by installing this Built-in Viewer on the computer .
17 Alarm This unit comes with a motion detect ion f eature and dual alar m input. During motio n detection or alar m input, actions such as mail delivery , message transmission via TCP/UDP , alarm output, moving to a preset position, and changing of B&W mode settings can be triggered.
18 Connection/Installation (VN-V685U/VN-V686B U) Preparation 1 Make holes on the ceiling ● Use the p rovided templa te to make a hol e ( R 80 mm) fo r the connecti on cables t o thread behind the ceiling. ● If necessary , also open a scre w hole to mou nt the ceiling clampi ng brack et to the ceilin g.
19 M emo : ● The wire should be insulated from the ceiling structure. If the ceiling structure is metal a nd insulation is not provided between the camera and the ceiling structure, image noise ma y occur . 6 Connect the cable ( A 23 to 25) Connect cables to the terminal of the ceiling clamping bracket.

21 Mounting the came ra to the ceiling 1 Remove the tape on the lens section 2 Remove the lens cap 3 Mount the dome co ver to the camera A Check that the dome cover and lens are free fr om dirt. B T urn the dome cover in a clock wise direction to mount.

23 P ow er can be supplied to this camera either by connecting to an AC 24 V power supply or using Po E ( A P age 24) . Note: ● If power is supplied from both power cab le and LAN cable, priority will be given to the power supply from the power cab le.
24 Connection/Installation (VN-V685U/VN-V68 6BU) Using P oE Supply pow er to the camera by connecting it to a device that supports PoE via a LAN cab le. Connect the camera to a hub or computer using a LAN cable. 䢇 When connecting to a hub Make use of a straight cable .
25 Connect the alar m signal cable to e xternal devices , such as a sensor or buzzer . A Loosen screws on both sides of the terminal block with a flathead scre wdriver and remove the terminal block as shown in the diagram below .

28 Connection/Installation (VN-V686WPBU) Mounting the Camera 1 Mount the fall pr even ti on wi re ● Mount the fall pre v ention wire of the camera to the f all pre vention wire anchor bolt that was installed earlier . ● Secure the fall pre v ention wire tightly with a nut and washer .
29 3 Connecting the alarm cable ( A Pag e 25) Connect the alar m cable and wind the waterproof tape (adhesive). After connecting, push the cable into the arm of the camera. Note: ● For cab les that are not used, be sure to wrap the ends individually with insulating tape.

31 Using P oE Supply pow er to the camera by connecting it to a device that supports PoE via a LAN cab le. Note: ● When power is supplied to VN-V686WPB U using P oE, the heater will not work. Use an AC 24 V power su pply when using the camera in an environment under -10 I .
32 Connection/Installation (VN-V686WPBU) Connect the alar m signal cable to e xternal devices , such as a sensor or buzzer . Note: ● Noises from an external source may cause the camera to malfunction ev en when the cable used is within 50 m. In this case, mo ve the cable a wa y from the noise source.
33 Network Setting ● Ensure that there is sufficient ne twork bandwidth for the data volume to be sent out by the camera. Do not send multicast stream that exceeds the bandwidth. If the entire bandwidth is used by the multicast stream, control of this camer a via the ne twork ma y f ail.
34 Network Setting Bit Rate of MPEG4 Stream Y ou can select either the V ar iab le Bit Rate (VBR) o r Constant Bi t Rate (CBR) sys tem for MPEG4 stream. When the VBR system is select ed, the bit rate varies according t o the co ndition of the inp ut video signals.
35 Network Dela y When the client acquires JPEG via TCP , the camera will send out data while checking the ACK from the client at the same time. F or networks with considerable dela y , data cannot be sent out until ACK is receiv ed, and theref ore the frame rate will drop .

57 JPEG B Quality/Size For specifying the rate control mode and target file size f or JPEG. When A VFS1 B to A VFS7 B is selected, the quantization table during JPEG encoding will be maintained and the file size will increase/decrease according to the input signals.
