5 ENGLISH 3 Adjust the volume. 4 Adjust the sound as you want. (See pages 19 – 22.) T o drop the volume in a moment Press briefly while listening to any source. “A TT” starts flashing on the display , and the volume le vel will drop in a moment.
6 ENGLISH RADIO BASIC OPERA TIONS MO TP RDS PTY DISP 8 9 10 11 12 7 DAB Listening to the radio Y ou can use either automatic searching or manual searching to tune in to a par ticular station. Searching a station automatically: Auto search 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM).
7 ENGLISH Searching a station manually: Manual search 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM). Note: This recei ver has three FM bands (FM1, FM2, FM3). Y ou can use any one of them to listen to an FM br oadcast. 2 Press and hold ¢ or 4 until “M (manual)” starts flashing on the display .
8 ENGLISH Local FM stations with the strongest signals are searched and stored automatically in the band number you ha ve selected (FM1, FM2 or FM3). These stations are preset in the number buttons — No .1 (lowest frequency) to No .6 (highest frequency).
9 ENGLISH T uning in to a preset station Y ou can easily tune in to a preset station. Remember that you must store stations first. If you hav e not stored them yet, see “Storing stations in memor y” on pages 8 and 9. 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM).
10 ENGLISH RDS OPERA TIONS T o use Network-Tracking Reception, press and hold TP RDS (T r affic Programme/Radio Data System) for more than 1 second. Each time you press and hold the button, Network-T racking Reception modes change as follo ws: Mode 1 The AF indicator lights up but the REG indicator does not.
11 ENGLISH PTY Standby Reception When you press PTY while listening to an FM station, the PTY indicator is lit during reception of a PTY station and the PTY standby mode is engaged. The selected PTY name stored on page 12 flashes for 5 seconds. • W hen the station being r eceived is not a PTY station, the PTY indicator flashes.
12 ENGLISH Selecting your favorite programme for PTY Standby Reception Y ou can select your f av orite programme f or PTY Standby Reception to store in memory . When shipped from the f actor y , “NEWS” is stored as the programme type f or PTY Standby Reception.
13 ENGLISH 4 Press and hold the number button for more than 2 seconds to store the PTY code selected into the preset number you want. The selected code name will flash on the displa y .
14 ENGLISH Changing the display mode while listening to an FM station Y ou can change the initial indication on the display to station name (PS NAME), station frequency (FREQ) or clock time (CLOCK), while listening to an FM RDS station. • See also “Changing the general settings (PSM)” on pages 23 and 24.

16 ENGLISH Listening to a cassette Y ou can play bac k type 1 (normal) tapes. 1 Insert a cassette into the cassette compartment. The unit turns on and tape play starts automatically . When one side of the tape reaches its end during play , the other side of the tape automatically star ts pla ying (A uto Rev erse).
17 ENGLISH Prohibiting cassette ejection Y ou can prohibit cassette ejection and can “loc k” a cassette in the cassette compar tment. Press and hold T APE 23 and 0 for more than 2 seconds. “NO EJECT” flashes on the display f or about 5 seconds, and the cassette is “locked.
18 ENGLISH Other convenient tape functions Skipping the blank portions on the tape Y ou can skip blank portions between the tunes (Blank Skip). When this function is on, the unit skips blank por tions of 15 seconds or more, f ast-forw ards to the ne xt tune, then star ts playing it.
19 ENGLISH 1 Select the item you want to adjust. Each time you press the button, the adjustable items change as follo ws: SOUND ADJUSTMENTS Adjusting the sound Y ou can adjust the sound characteristics to your preference . Indication T o do: Range BAS Adjust the bass.
20 ENGLISH T urning on/off the loudness function (only for KS-F525) The human ear is less sensitive to lo w and high frequencies at low v olumes. The loudness function can boost these frequencies to produce a well-balanced sound at low v olume lev els.
21 ENGLISH • When “SCM LINK” is set to “LINK ON, ” the selected sound mode can be stored in memor y for the current source and the eff ect applies only to the current source. • When “SCM LINK” is set to “LINK OFF , ” the selected sound mode eff ect applies to any source.
22 ENGLISH Storing your own sound adjustments Y ou can adjust the sound modes (BEA T , SOFT , POP) to your pref erence and store your o wn adjustments in memor y . • There is a time limit in doing the f ollowing procedure. If the setting is canceled before you finish, star t from step 1 again.
23 ENGLISH Setting the clock Y ou can also set the clock system to either 24 hours or 12 hours. 1 Press and hold SEL (select) for more than 2 seconds so that one of the PSM items appears on the display . (See page 24.) 2 Set the hour . 1 Select “CLOCK H (hour)” if not sho wn on the display .

25 ENGLISH T o select the telephone muting – TEL This mode is used when a cellular phone system is connected. Depending on the phone system used, select either “MUTING 1” or “MUTING 2, ” whichev er mutes the sounds from this unit. When shipped from the factory , this mode is deactivated.
26 ENGLISH Detaching the control panel Y ou can detach the contol panel when leaving the car . When detaching or attaching the control panel, be careful not to damage the connectors on the back of the control panel and on the panel holder . Detaching the control panel Before detaching the control panel, be sure to turn off the power .
27 ENGLISH Playing CDs Select the CD automatic changer (CD-CH). Playbac k star ts from the first trac k of the first disc. All tracks of all discs are pla yed bac k. • The display sho ws the following inf ormation, depending on the “CH DISP (CD changer displa y)” setting (see page 25.
28 ENGLISH Selecting CD playback modes T o play back tracks at random (Random Play) Each time you press the b utton, CD random pla y mode changes as follo ws: RND1 Lights All trac ks of the current (random1) disc, then the tr acks of the ne xt disc, and so on.

ENGLISH 30 This section is only for KS-FX725R. We recommend that y ou use D AB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) tuner KT -DB1500 with your unit. If you ha ve another D AB tuner , consult y our JVC IN-CAR ENTERT AINMENT dealer . • Refer also to the Instructions supplied with your D AB tuner .

ENGLISH 32 Storing DAB services in memory Y ou can preset up to 6 DAB services in each D AB band (D AB1, DAB2 and D AB3) manually . 1 Select the DAB tuner . Each time you press and hold the button, the D AB tuner and the FM/AM tuner are alternately selected.
ENGLISH 33 T uning in to a preset DAB service Y ou can easily tune in to a preset DAB service. Remember that you must store services first. 34 ENGLISH TROUBLESHOOTING What appears to be trouble is not alwa ys serious. Chec k the follo wing points bef ore calling a ser vice center . Remedies Inser t the cassette with the exposed tape f acing right. Press and hold T APE 23 and 0 f or more than tw o seconds.
35 ENGLISH Remedies Inser t CDs into the magazine. Inser t them correctly . Inser t the magazine. Connect this unit and the CD changer correctly and press the reset button of the CD changer . Press the reset button of the CD changer . Press and hold both the SEL (select) and buttons at the same time for se ver al seconds.
36 ENGLISH This unit requires very little attention, but y ou will be able to e xtend the life of the unit if y ou follo w the instructions below . T o clean the head • Clean the head after every 10 hours of use using a wet-type head cleaning tape (av ailable at an audio store).
