EN 3 Basic Connections CHECK CONTENTS 1 Make sure the package contains all of the accessories listed in "Specifications" ( Z pg. 41). SITUA TE RECORDER 2 Place the recorder on a stable, horizontal surface. CONNECT RECORDER TO TV 3 The connection method you use depends on the type of TV you have.
4 EN V ideo Channel Set INITIAL SETTINGS V ideo Channel (RF Output Channel) is the channel on which your TV receives picture and sound signals from the video recorder through the RF cable. If you have connected the video recorder to your TV via the provided RF cable only (RF connection) – Go to "With RF Connection" belo w .
EN 5 A (Ex.) If channel 50 is available in your area SET VIDEO CHANNEL 3 Set your TV to UHF channel 36. ● If the tw o v ertical white bars appear clearly on the screen as shown in the illustration ( Z "TEST SIGNAL" on page 4), press OK and then go to step 4 .

14 EN Index Search Y our recorder automatically marks index codes at the beginning of each recording. This function gi ves you quick access to any one of 9 index codes in either direction. NOTE: Before starting, make sure the recorder is in the Stop mode.
EN 15 Next Function Memory T he Next Function Memory "tells" the recorder what to do after rewinding. Before continuing, ensure that the recorder is in the Stop mode. a– F or Automatic Start Of Playbac k After T ape Rewind... ...press REW , then press PLA Y within 2 seconds.

(Biconditional Equalised Signal T racking) system chec ks the condition of the tape in use during recording and playback, and compensates to pro vide the highest-possible recording and pla yback pictures.

22 EN TIMER RECORDING (cont.) Check, Cancel And Replace Programmes DISENGAGE TIMER MODE 1 Press TIMER , then press . ACCESS PROGRAMME CHECK SCREEN 2 Press PROG CHECK . ACCESS PROGRAMME SCREEN 3 Press PROG CHECK again to check more informa- tion. Eac h time you press PROG CHECK , the next programme's information appears.
EN 23 Auto Timer When the A uto T imer is set to ON the timer is automatically engaged when the recorder power is turned off and automati- cally disengaged when the recorder is powered back on.
24 EN Remote A/B Code Switching T he remote control is capable of controlling two JVC video recorders independently; one set to respond to the remote control's A code control signals and another set to respond to B code control signals.
EN 25 Contr ol Y our TV Using Additional Buttons Use the NUMBER keys, and the button, CANCEL button or TIMER button to select the TV's channel. ● With televisions under Code 01, 02, 03, 05, 07, 15, 16 or 22 , the button corresponds to the 1-digit/2-digit entry switc hing button (often labelled – /– –) of your TV's remote control.

34 EN TROUBLESHOOTING Before requesting service for a problem, use this chart and see if you can repair the trouble yourself. Small problems are often easily corrected, and this can save y ou the trouble of sending your video recorder off for repair .
EN 35 CORRECTIVE ACTION Insert a cassette, or using adhesi ve tape, reseal the slot where the tab was removed. Set to the desired channel. Confirm that the source is properly connected. Confirm that all units' power switches are turned on. Set the input mode to "L-1" or "F-1".
36 EN CORRECTIVE ACTION Position the camcorder so its microphone is aw ay from the TV . T urn the TV's volume down. If you need the skipped channels, restore them. ( Z pg. 31) Press P AUSE to pause the recording, change channels, then press PLAY to resume recording.
