This recorder can also receive SECAM colour television signals for recording and playback.
EN 3 Basic Connections CHECK CONTENTS 1 Make sure the package contains all of the accessories listed in “Specifications” ( Z pg. 28). SITUA TE RECORDER 2 Place the recorder on a stable, horizontal surface. CONNECT RECORDER TO TV 3 The connection method you use depends on the type of TV you have.

EN 5 On-Screen Displays Y ou can choose whether or not to have various operational indicators appear on screen, by setting this function ON or OFF . Messages appear in the language you select. The superimposed indication on the TV screen tells you what the recorder is doing.
6 EN T uner Set INITIAL SETTINGS (cont.) Y our recorder needs to memorise all necessary stations in channel positions in order to record TV programmes. Once stored, you can call them up with the TV PROG. buttons without going through any vacant channels.
EN 7 SELECT POSITION 6 Press TV PROG. 5 / ∞ until an open position in which you want to store a channel appears, then press OK . STORE CHANNEL 7 If fine tuning is not necessary , simply press STORE . For fine tuning adjustment, press TV PROG. 5 / ∞ until the picture becomes clearer, then press STORE .
8 EN INITIAL SETTINGS (cont.) Fine-T uning Channels Already Stored TURN ON THE RECORDER 1 Press OPERA TE . ACCESS CHANNEL SET MODE SELECT SCREEN 2 Press and hold CH SET for more than 2 seconds. The Channel Set Mode Select screen appears. SELECT MODE 3 Press TV PROG.
EN 9 Clock Set TURN ON THE RECORDER 1 Press OPERA TE . ACCESS MODE SELECT SCREEN 2 Press CLOCK . SELECT MODE 3 Press TV PROG. 5 / ∞ to place the pointer next to "CLOCK SET", then press OK on the remote control. The Clock Set screen appears.
10 EN PLA YBACK Basic Playback The easiest, most basic operation possible with your video recorder is tape playback. Already-recorded signals on a video tape are read by your video recorder and displayed on your TV just like a TV programme.
EN 11 Playback Features High-Speed Search ACTIV A TE HIGH-SPEED SEARCH 1 Press FF for forward high-speed sear ch, or REW for reverse high-speed sear ch. ● For short searches, press and hold FF or REW for over 2 seconds. When released, normal playback resumes.
12 EN PLA YBACK (cont.) Instant ReView Simply by pressing a single button, the recorder power comes on, rewinds, and begins playback of the last timer -recorded programme. If you have several programmes recorded, you can easily access any of them. NOTES: ● Before starting, make sure that the recorder is off and that the T imer mode is disengaged.
EN 13 REMOVE POWER SUPPL Y 1 Unplug the mains power cord from the mains outlet. SET A/B CODE SWITCH 2 Set to B. RE-SUPPL Y POWER 3 Plug the mains power cord back into the mains outlet. TURN THE RECORDER ON 4 Press OPERA TE on the remote control. The recorder will now only respond to B code signals.
14 EN TV signals being received by the recorder ’ s built-in tuner can be recorded onto a video tape. Y ou can “capture” a TV programme using your video recorder . RECORDING Basic Recording T urn on the TV and select the VIDEO channel (or A V mode).
EN 15 Record One Pr ogramme While W atching Another SELECT CHANNEL TO W A TCH 1 Once recording is in progress, all you need to do is to set the channel controls on the TV for the station you wish to view . ● The programme selected with the TV’ s channel controls appears on the TV screen while the one selected with the TV PROG .
16 EN 12 45 3 6 8 0 7 9 RECORDING (cont.) B.E.S.T . Pictur e System The B.E.S.T . (Biconditional Equalised Signal T racking) system checks the condition of the tape in use during recording and playback, and compensates to provide the highest-possible recording and playback pictures.

18 EN TIMER RECORDING Timer Pr ogramming Before performing the following steps: ● Insert a cassette with the safety tab in place. The recorder will come on automatically . ● T urn on the TV and select the VIDEO channel (or A V mode). ● Select the appropriate colour system by pressing the COLOUR SYSTEM button.
EN 19 ENTER CHANNEL POSITION 6 Press TV PROG. 5 / ∞ to select the channel you wish to record. SET T APE SPEED 7 Press SP/LP/EP to set the tape speed. ● For each additional programme, press PROG. and repeat steps 3 – 7 . RETURN TO NORMAL SCREEN 8 Press PROG.
