4 EN Basic Connections CHECK CONTENTS 1 Make sure the package contains all of the accessories listed in “SPECIFICA TIONS” ( Z pg. 65). SITUA TE VCR 2 Place the VCR on a stable, horizontal surface. CONNECT VCR TO TV 3 The connection method you use depends on the type of TV you have.
EN 5 INITIAL SETTINGS Plug & Play The Plug & Play function sets the clock and tuner channels automatically when power is first connected to the VCR.
6 EN INITIAL SETTINGS (cont.) Language This VCR offers you the choice to view on-screen messages in English, Spanish or French (not including messages superimposed on the TV picture). Select the desired language using this procedure. The default setting is "ENGLISH".
EN 7 Clock Perform clock setting only if the clock has not been set correctly by the Plug & Play function. Access the Override Auto Clock Set screen to choose the Auto, Semi-Auto or Manual clock setting procedure. Each procedure starts from step 5 .

EN 11 The VCR detects the band (TV or CA TV) and selects the correct band automatically during Auto Channel Set. If necessary , you can check the setting at the Band screen after Auto Channel Set has set the channels.
12 EN Add Or Delete A Channel ACCESS TUNER SET SCREEN 1 Access by performing steps 2 and 3 of the T uner procedure on page 10. ● T o add a channel, go to step 2 . ● T o delete a channel, skip to step 4 . EN 15 Set Cable Box Brand TURN ON CABLE BOX 1 Select a channel other than channel 9 on your Cable Box. ACCESS CABLE BOX BRAND SET SCREEN 2 At the G-C ODE Set-Up screen, press CH 5 ∞ or PUSH JOG 5 ∞ to move the highlight bar (arrow) to “CABLE BOX BRAND SET”, then press OK.

18 EN INITIAL SETTINGS (cont.) The following procedure is required if you receive DBS channels through a DBS (Direct Broadcast DBS) Receiver . The Controller allows the VCR to automatically switch the DBS Receiver's channels during timer recording.

ACCESS DBS RECEIVER BRAND SET SCREEN 2 At the Custom Set screen, press CH 5 ∞ or PUSH JOG 5 ∞ to move the highlight bar (arrow) to “DBS RECEIVER BRAND SET”, then press OK.
EN 21 SIMPLE PLA YBACK AND RECORDING Simple Playback LOAD A CASSETTE 1 Make sure the window side is up, the rear label side is facing you and the arrow on the front of the cassette is pointing towards the VCR. Don’ t apply too much pressure when inserting.
22 EN 12 45 3 6 8 0 7 9 q Simple Recording LOAD A CASSETTE 1 Make sure the record safety tab is intact. If not, cover the hole with adhesive tape before inserting the cassette. SELECT RECORDING CHANNEL 2 Press CH 5 ∞ . Or press the appropriate NUMBER keys, then press ENTER .

EN 25 Video Stabilizer By activating the V ideo Stabilizer you can correct vertical vibrations in the picture when playing back unstable EP recordings that were made on another VCR. When this function is set to "ON", vertical vibration will be automatically corrected.

EN 27 Select The Soundtrack Y our VCR can record two soundtracks simultaneously (Normal and Hi-Fi) and play back the selected one, or both together . ACCESS MAIN MENU SCREEN 1 Press MENU as many times as necessary during playback or when VCR is in stop mode.

A V COMPU LINK provides one touch control of the audio and video compo- nents that are linked via their A V COMPU LINK connectors.

32 EN PLA YBACK AND RECORDING FEA TURES (cont.) Auto Picture Auto Picture compensates for variations in tape characteristics to ensure the best possible playback picture. It checks and compensates for the condition of the tape at the beginning of automatic tracking when playback is selected.

Both the picture and Hi-Fi audio soundtrack are replaced with new ones, while the normal audio soundtrack remains unchanged. If you wish to change the normal audio track as well, use the audio dubbing function simultaneously .

56 EN Contr ol T wo JVC VCRs The supplied remote control is capable of controlling two JVC VCRs independently using the A/B CODE switch. Y ou can set this VCR so it responds to remote commands only when the switch is set to B , and another VCR so it responds to commands when the switch is set to A .
