When you connect the power plug into the AC out- let, "DEMO ST ART!" appears in the display win- dow and the demonstration disp lay starts.
10 Basic Operations Basic Ope rations Basic Operations About this manual • This manual explains the operati ons assuming that you wil l use the remote con- trol. Some buttons on the main unit are the same as those on the re mote control. Y ou can use either button in this case.
11 (Continued) Basic Operations Press (or on the main unit). • With the power o ff, pressing either button turns on the main unit. Remote control: Main unit: Pressing one of these buttons othe r than changes the sound source. When a CD or cassette tape has been loaded, play- back starts.

17 (Continued) Listening to CDs Press the number buttons to select the track you want to listen to. • Refer to "Using the number buttons" ( page 10). This function allows you to repeatedly listen to the same track. During CD playback, press repeat- edly to select the repeat mode.

19 Listening to Casset te Ta pes Listening to Cassette T apes 1 Insert a cassette t ape. CAUTION • Before using a cassette tape, wind up any slack in the cassette tape. ( page 27) • Do not use long cassette tapes such as C-120 or C-150. Long cassette tapes are thin and stretch easily , and may become tangled in the inner part of the main unit.

21 Recording Sound Recording Sound to Cassette T apes Main unit Remote control NOTE • T he sound input level during recording is automatically adjusted. • When you r ecord tracks from a CD or MP3, a 4- second blank is inserted between tracks in the recording.
22 Recording Soun d Example: Display wh ile CD sound is recorded. • When all tracks from a CD or MP3 are recorded to the cassette tape or the cassette tape is fully wound, the recording stops automatically . • When you want to record sound from other equipment, start playback on the connected equipment.

Example: T o set the sleep timer to 60 minutes NOTE • When you set the sle ep timer , the display window automatically dims.

27 Reference Handling CDs/Cassette T apes • Do not put adhesive tape or stickers, or write on a CD. • Do not bend a CD. • Be sure not to use heart/flower shaped CDs or other irregularly shaped CDs. The use of such CDs damages the main uni t. • Be sure not to use thinners, benzenes, cleaners for analog records, or other chemical agents.
