Connections VCR W ALL CABLE or ANTENNA OUT OR OR TWO-WA Y SPLITTER 1) Connect the antenna or cab le TV wire from the wall outlet, in to the RF Input of the two-wa y splitter . 2) Connect an RF cable from the one of the RF Outputs on the splitter , in to the RF Input on the back of the VCR.

Connections 16 The connection diagrams are intended to show some basic general connections. Some cable companies may require special connections to pr operly use your televi- sion or 2-tuner PIP function.

To bring up the onscreen menu , press the M ENU b utton on the remote control. The item that appears in yello w is the one currently selected. If you press the M ENU b utton again, the onscreen display will skip to the ne xt menu screen.
Onscreen Menus 24 The Onscreen Menu System Y our tele vision comes with JVC’ s Onscreen Menu System. The Onscreen Menus let you mak e adjustments to your tele vision’s operation simply and quic kly . Examples of the Onscreen Menus are shown below and on the ne xt page.
Plug In Menu The Plug In Menu comes up automatically when you first turn on the TV after plugging it in. The Plug In Menu helps you to get y our TV ready to use b y letting you set y our preferences f.
Plug In Menu 26 A uto Clock Set Before y ou use any of your TV’s timer functions , you must first set the cloc k. Y ou may precisely set your cloc k using the XDS time signal broadcast by most Pub lic Broadcasting stations.
Plug In Menu 27 Manual Cloc k Set NO TE: Y ou will hav e to reset the clock after a po wer interruption. Y ou must set the cloc k before operat- ing any timer functions. To set your clock manually (without using the XDS signal), choose MANU AL from the Set Clock menu and f ollow the steps below .
Channel Summary Channel Summary Channel Summary allows you to customize the line-up of channels receiv ed by y our TV . Y ou can add or delete channels from the line-up or prev ent any unauthorized viewers from w atching any or all 181 channels.
29 V -Chip Y our TV is equipped with V -Chip technology which enab les TV P arental Guidelines (for United States and Canada) and Movie (MP AA) Guideline controls. V -Chip technology allows you to program y our TV to receive , or not to receive , programs based on content according to the guidelines.
30 V -Chip US V -Chip Ratings U .S. P ARENT AL RA TING SYSTEMS Programs with the f ollowing ratings are appr opriate for children. ❒ TV Y is Appropriate f or All Children. Programs are created f or ver y young vie wers and should be suitable f or all ages, including children ages 2 - 6.
V -Chip 31 Line up the cursor in the column (TV PG, TV G, etc.) with the content row (V/FV , S, etc.) and press the " or #! to mov e the cursor to the correct location. Press $ or % to turn the locking f eature on or off . An item is locked if the icon appears instead of a “—”.
V -Chip 32 Setting ratings with the V -Chip button Example 2: If you w ant to set your V -Chip settings to block all prog ramming abov e a current setting such as TV PG-V (with violence): Press Z ERO when TV -PG - V is displayed All Programming abo ve TV -PG - V (with Violence) will be bloc ked.
V -Chip ❒ NR - Not Rated. This is a film which has no rating. In many cases these films were impor ted from countries which do not use the MP AA ratings system. Other NR films ma y be from amateur producers who didn’t intend to hav e their film widely released.
V -Chip ❒ E - Exempt. Exempt prog ramming includes: news, spor ts, documentaries and other information programming, talk sho ws, music videos , and variety programming. ❒ C – Programming Intended f or Children. Violence Guidelines: There will be no realistic scenes of violence.
35 V -Chip Unrated Programs Notes About Unrated Programs Unrated programming ref ers to any programming which does not contain a rating signal. Programming on tele vision stations which do not broadcast rating signals will be placed in the “Unrated Programming" category .
36 V -Chip Set Lock Code Channel Guard and V -Chip settings are protected by a four-digit Loc k Code. Y our TV comes pre-set with a Lock Code of "0000". Y ou may change the code to an y four-digit n umber you wish. T o change the Loc k Code, f ollow the steps belo w .
37 Picture Settings Tint Color Picture Bright Detail Tint allows y ou to adjust the lev els of red and green in your TV picture. Press the M ENU bu tton " # To TINT % To increase the lev els of g.

39 Sound Settings Y ou can increase or decrease the le vel of lo w-frequency sound in the TV’ s audio with the Bass adjustment. Press the M ENU bu tton " # To BASS % To increase the bass $ To decrease the bass " # To move to the ne xt setting Use T reble to adjust the le vel of high-frequency sound in your TV’ s audio .
40 General Items The On/Off timer lets you progr am your tele vision to tur n itself on or off. Y ou can use it as an alarm to wake up , to help you remember important programs, or as a deco y when you're not home.
General Items Many broadcasts now include an onscreen displa y of dialog called Closed Captions. Some broadcasts may also include displa ys of additional information in text f orm. Y our tele vision can access and display this inf or mation using the Closed Caption feature.
Get the best quality video from your D VD play er by using this setting and the D VD inputs at the rear of the television. Set either to YES f or component input (for D VD) or to NO f or composite video input (for a regular VCR).

For e xample to move to channel 124, press100+, 2 (two), 4 (f our). 100+ Button Return+ Input Selects the signal input source for the tele vision: TV (for Antenna or Cab le) or Video-1, 2 or 3 f or video de vices like VCR’s , D VD play ers, or camcorders.
