3 Prepar ation 1 Confirm which remote control you have Y our TV comes with one of the two remote contr ols shown belo w . Functions y ou can operate differ depending on the type of r emote control.
4 Prepar ation 3 Connecting the antenna and VCR • R ead the manuals provided with the de vices. Depending on the de vice , the connection method may be differ ent from the diagr ams. Also the device settings may need to change depending on the connection method.
5 Prepar ation 4 Connecting other devices If you ar e not connecting any other de vices, skip step 4 and perform step 5. • Use the headphones with a ster eo mini jack (3.5 mm in diameter). When you connect the headphones, the TV speak ers go off. • The OUTPUT terminal outputs the video and sound signals which y ou are viewing on the TV .
6 Prepar ation 6 SETUP TOUR When the TV is first turned on it enter s the SETUP T OUR mode , and the JVC logo is display ed. F ollow the instructions on the on-scr een display to perform the SETUP T OUR. • In case of r esetting that the r eason for such as remo val, y ou can set the A UT O CH PRESET function on the “MENU 3” menu.
7 Basic operation • The illustr ation below is for the remote control RM-C1330 supplied with VT3 1 series models. Y our r emote control ma y not look exactly lik e the illustrations . 1 Press the POWER button to turn your TV on. • If y our TV does not turn on, press the Main pow er button on the TV then press the PO WER button again.
8 Remote contr ol buttons and functions MUTING button Y ou can turn the sound off instantly . Press this button. T o turn the sound on, press this button again. COLOR SYSTEM button If the picture is not clear or no color appears , change the current color s ystem to another color sy stem.
9 Remote control buttons and functions ECO SENSOR button Y ou can adjust this TV so that the screen automatically adjusts to the optimum contrast accor ding to the brightness of y our room. This function r educes ey e strain and the pow er consumption of this TV .
10 Remote control buttons and functions CHANNEL SCAN button Y ou can quickly view all TV channels progr ams that y ou can view on y our TV , and search for the pr ogr am you w ant to view . 1 Press this button to start scanning TV channels. The TV channel progr ams are each display ed for sev er al seconds.

12 Using the TV’ s menus INPUT Y ou can view images from VCRs or other devices connected to y our TV . 1 Press MENU T to display the “MENU 1” menu, then select “INPUT”.
13 Using the TV’ s menus CLOSED CAPTION Y ou can view closed captions or text information. 1 Press MENU T to display the “MENU 1” menu, then select “CLOSED CAPTION”. 14 Using the TV’ s menus VIDEO-2 SET Set the VIDEO-2 SET correctly accor ding to the video signal input from the e xternal device connected to the VIDEO-2 terminal. If this setting is incorrect, images will not be display ed. 1 Press MENU T to display the “MENU 2” menu, then select “VIDEO-2 SET”.
15 Using the TV’ s menus CHANNEL SKIP Y ou can set undesired channels to be skipped. Channels set to be skipped cannot be selected by the CHANNEL m buttons or the CHANNEL SC AN button. 1 Press MENU T to display the “MENU 3” menu, then select “CHANNEL SKIP”.

17 Using the TV’ s menus F A VORITE CH SETTING Y ou can set PICTURE MODE, VNR and PICTURE EFFECT functions for the fav orite channels using F A VORITE CH SETTING menu. 1 Press MENU T to display the “MENU 6” menu, then select “F A VORITE CH SETTING”.
18 Using the TV’ s menus AI ECO SENSOR Y ou can enable this function so that the brightness of TV screen is automatically adjusted according to the brightness of y our room. 1 Press MENU T to display the “MENU 6” menu, then select “AI ECO SENSOR”.

21 Basic operation Check to make sur e the CHILD LOCK function is set to “ OFF ” . When the CHILD LOCK function is set to “ ON ”, the TV cannot be operated using the fr ont contr ol buttons. F or details, see “CHILD LOCK” on page 13. 1 Press CHANNEL M to turn the TV on from standby mode.
