COLOUR TELEVISION INSTRUCTIONS Thank you for buying this JVC colour television. T o make sure you understand how to use your new TV , please read this manual thoroughly before you begin. 2 Safety pr ecautions W ARNING • T o prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose the TV to rain or moisture. CAUTION • Operate only from the power source indicated on the rear of the TV . • A void damaging the power cord and mains plug. When you unplug the TV , pull it out by the mains plug.
3 Prepar ation 2 Connecting the aerial and VCR • Read the manuals pr ovided with the de vices. Depending on the device , the connection method may be differ ent from the diagrams . Also the de vice settings may need to change depending on the connection method.
4 Prepar ation 3 Connecting other devices If you ar e not connecting any other de vices, skip step 3 and perform step 4. • Use the headphones with a stereo mini jack (3.5 mm in diameter). When you connect the headphones, the TV speaker s go off. • The OUTPUT terminal outputs the video and sound signals which you are vie wing on the TV .
5 Prepar ation 5 Initial setting When the TV is first turned on, it enter s the initial setting mode , and the JVC logo is display ed. F ollo w the instructions on the on-screen displa y to perform the initial settings. 1 Press the Main power button on the TV .

7 Remote contr ol buttons and functions ECO SENSOR button Y ou can adjust this TV so that the screen automatically adjusts to the optimum contrast according to the brightness of y our room. This function reduces e y e str ain and the pow er consumption of this TV .
8 Remote control buttons and functions button Y ou can select a sound setting for stereo broadcast pr ogrammes and bilingual progr ammes. Press this button to select a sound setting. : Stereo sound : Bilingual I (sub I) sound : Bilingual II (sub II) sound : Monaural sound MONO : Cancels the multi-sound function, and the sound becomes monaural.

11 Using the TV’ s menus INPUT Y ou can view images fr om VCRs or other devices connected to y our TV . 1 Press MENU T to display the “ MENU 1 ” menu, then select “ INPUT ” .
12 Using the TV’ s menus AUTO SHUTOFF Y ou can set your TV to turn off if no signals are r eceived for about 15 minutes or longer after the end of a broadcast.

14 Using the TV’ s menus AI VOLUME Y ou can prevent the sudden incr ease or decrease of v olume that occurs when changing channels or switching VIDEO modes.

18 Using the buttons on the TV Basic operation • Check to make sur e the CHILD LOCK function is set to “ OFF ” . When the CHILD LOCK function is set to “ ON ” , the TV cannot be operated using the front contr ol buttons. F or details, see “ CHILD LOCK ” on page 12.
