2 Safety precautions W ARNING •T o prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose the TV to rain or moisture. CAUTION • Operate only fr om the power sour ce indicated on the rear of the TV . •A v oid damaging the po wer cor d and mains plug. When you unplug the TV , pull it out b y the mains plug.
3 Pr eparation 1 Confirm which remote control you have Y our TV comes with one of the three r emote controls shown belo w . Functions y ou can operate differ depending on the type of r emote control.
4 Prepar ation 3 Connecting the aerial and external devices •F or further details , refer to the manuals provided with the de vices you are connecting. • Connecting cables are not supplied. • The front and rear A UDIO/VIDEO input jacks are dir ectly connected so that input to either jack is output through both.

8 Remote contr ol buttons and functions ECO SENSOR button <A V -14A3 does not have this function> Y ou can adjust this TV so that the screen automatically adjusts to the optimum contrast accor ding to the brightness of your r oom. This function reduces ey e strain and the po wer consumption of this TV .
9 Remote control buttons and functions DISPLA Y button Y ou can continuously display the curr ent channel number or VIDEO mode on the screen. Press this button. To turn the display off, pr ess this button again. • When selecting a channel or VIDEO mode with no input signal, indication of selected channel or VIDEO mode becomes fixed on the screen.

11 V iewing teletext pr ogrammes REVEAL Some teletext pages include hidden te xt (such as answer s to a quiz). Y ou can display the hidden te xt. Each time you press the REVEAL button, text is hidden or revealed.

13 Using the TV’ s menus When the time set for the ON TIMER function is reached: The TV automatically turns on and the channel set for the ON TIMER function is display ed. •F or safety reasons the TV will automatically turn off if no operations ar e made within appro ximately two hours after the TV is turned on with the ON TIMER function.

18 Using the TV’ s menus SKIP Y ou can set undesired channels to be skipped. Channels set to be skipped cannot be selected by the CHANNEL m buttons nor the CHANNEL SC AN button. • Channels to which TV channels have not been preset ar e automatically set to be skipped.

20 Basic operation • Check to make sur e the CHILD LOCK function is set to “ OFF ”. When the CHILD LOCK function is set to “ ON ”, the TV cannot be operated using the fr ont control buttons. F or details, see “CHILD LOCK” on page 14. 1 Press CHANNEL M to turn the TV on from standby mode.
