6 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Cutting equipment Saw b lades are intended for cutting fibrous types of wood. Grass b lades and grass cutters are intended f or cutting coarse grass . A trimmer head is intended for trimming grass . Locking n ut A locking n ut is used to secure some types of cutting attachment.

Release the throttle and check that the cutting attachment stops and remains at a standstill. If the cutting attachment rotates with the throttle in the idle position then the carburettor idle setting m ust be check ed.

12 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS The ABC of clearing • Alwa ys use the correct equipment. • Make sure the equipment is w ell adjusted. • F ollow the saf ety precautions. • Organise your w ork carefully . • Alwa ys use full throttle when star ting to cut with the blade.
English – 13 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS • Large stems must be cut from two sides . First deter mine which direction the stem will f all. Make the first cut on the f elling side. Then finish cutting the stem from the other side. Adjust the cutting pressure to match the size of the stem and the hardness of the wood.
14 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Grass trimming with a trimmer head T rimming • Hold the trimmer head just above the g round at an angle. It is the end of the cord that does the work. Let the cord work at its own pace. Nev er press the cord into the area to be cut.

English – 17 ASSEMBL Y Assembling the handlebar and thr ottle • Unscrew the knob from the handlebar mounting. • P osition the handlebar as shown. Fit the mounting components and tighten the knob lightly . • Fit the right handle to the handlebar using the screw , washer , slee ve and nut as shown.
18 – English ASSEMBL Y Fitting a blade guar d, grass blade and grass cutter • The blade guard (A) is fi tted using 4 scre ws (L) and the suppor t plate (M) as shown. CA UTION! Alwa ys use the recommended guard for the cutting attachment you are using.
English – 19 ASSEMBL Y Fitting the trimmer guar d and trimmer head T rimm y SII • Fit the correct trimmer guard (A) for use with the trimmer head. Secure the trimmer guard using the 4 screws (L) and the suppor t plate (M) as shown. • Fit the drive disc (B) on the output shaft.
20 – English ASSEMBL Y Adjusting the harness and c learing saw Safety release At the front is an easily accessible , quick release. Use this if the engine catches fi re or in any other emergency situation that requires you to free y ourself from the machine and harness.
English – 21 FUEL HANDLING Fuel CA UTION! The machine is equipped with a two-stroke engine and must alwa ys been run using a mixture of gasoline and two-strok e engine oil. It is impor tant to accurately measure the amount of oil to be mix ed to ensure that the correct mixture is obtained.

English – 23 ST ARTING AND ST OPPING Stopping Stop the engine by s witching off the ignition. Starting Hold the body of the machine on the ground using y our left hand (CA UTION! Not with your f oot!).
24 – English MAINTENANCE Carb urettor Y our Jonsered product has been designed and manuf actured to speci fi cations that reduce harmful exhaust fumes.
English – 25 MAINTENANCE High speed jet H The high speed jet H aff ects the engine power , speed, temperature and fuel consumption. If the high speed jet H is set too lean (screw ed in too f ar) the engine speed will be too high and cause engine damage.
26 – English MAINTENANCE Air fi lter The air fi lter must be regularly cleaned to remov e dust and dir t in order to av oid: • Carburettor malfunctions • Star ting problems • Loss of engine power • Unnecessar y wear to engine par ts • Excessive fuel consumption.
