Th e built - in v e ntilation syst e m removes c ooking v apors, odors a nd smok e f rom fo o ds prepared on your cooktop. Regular use of this system will insure a mor e comfortable and less humid kit c h e n whi ch is free of h e avy c ooking odors and fum e s that n o rmally c reate a frequent n e ed for c leaning and redecorating.
Jenn-Air's ventilation system is designed to capture both cooking fumes and smoke from any place on the cooktop surface. If the system does not, these are some ducting installation situations to check: • 6" di a meter ro u nd o r 3 1 / 4" x 10" re c tangular du c ting should be used for duet l eng t hs 10' - 60'.
T o achieve o ptimum c oo king performance, use cookpots with flat bottoms, tight fitting covers, and siz e d for the surfac e burner . The cooktop is equipped with two small and two large surface burners. Flame size should be adjusted so it does not extend beyond the edge of the cookware.
When the control knob is turned O N , gas will flow into the burn e r. The solid state igniter will click until the gas is ignited. (Not e : All burner igniters will spark regardless of which burner is b e ing op e rat e d.

Be sure all c ontrols are OFF and all eooktop parts are cool before cleaning. L-J I _ SURFACE BURNER GRATE The surface burner grates are made of porcelain on c ast -- iron. Therefore , the grates can be washed in the sink with mild detergents and a ptastic scrubber or washed in -- th e di s h wa s he r.
j BURNER H _O The su r face burner heads are removab l e f o r _D_E_,_ cleaning. The caps are porcelain , while the port ,G_ , TE. _ " O_E,T areas are aluminum. Wash the surface burner heads in the sink with mild detergent and a plastic s cr ubb e r .
The knobs on the control panel can be removed with th e contro l s in the OFF position . Pull ea c h knob straight from the shaft. Wash knobs in warm soapy water or dishwasher; do not use abrasive cleans e rs or materials . T o replace each knob, match flat part of knob opening with the flat on the shaft, retu rn ing in OFF po s ition .
