– 2 – – 2 – 1. Read Instructions. All the safety an d operating instru ction s should be read bef ore th e produ ct is operated . 2. Retain Instructions. The safety and oper ating instru c- tion s should be retain ed for future r eferen ce. 3.
– 3 – Placement • As a gener al rule , bass response incr eases as a subw oofer is placed closer to a wall. Ther efor e, bass output is maximized when the subw oofer is placed in a corner . • It is also recommended that the subw oofer be positioned along the same wall as the fr ont loudspeaker s.
– 4 – 2) If your receiver/amplifier has subw oofer outputs or preamp output jack s for the left and right channels. Note: Som e receivers/ampli- fiers have a sin gle (mon o) subwoofer output. In this case , it is recomm ended that you use a “Y”-connector (n ot inclu ded) to m aximize the subwoofer’s perf ormance .
– 5 – 3) If your receiver/ampli- fier has preamp output jacks and main input jacks f or the left and right channels or you have a separ ate pre- amp/processor and pow er amplifier . This meth od of h ookup can offer th e high est level of per- form ance f or your complete loudspeak er system.
– 6 – Oper ation Pow e r When th e unit is plugged in and n o sign al is received for appr oxim ately 10 – 15 minutes , the subwoo fer will go in to a standby m ode until a sign al is presen t. Due to JBL ’s unique , high-effi ciency digital-amplifi er desi gn, power consumpti on is minimal when th e subwoofer is n ot receivin g a sign al.
– 7 – The Phase Con trol d etermines wheth er the subwoo fer speaker’s piston-lik e action moves in an d out with the main speak ers, 0 ° , or opposite the m ain speakers , 180 ° .
