MPC-X100 100 Hz Subwoofer Crossover For JBL MPC and MP A amplifiers Owner’ s Manual and Installation Guide I. Description T he MPC-X100 is a dual-c hannel 100 Hz crosso ver filter accessory for use with JBL MPC and MP A po wer amplifiers .
II. Installation CAUTION: T he MPC-X100 contains acti ve components whic h can be damaged by electro- static discharge (ESD). Be sure to practice standar d ESD precautions , and al wa ys g round yourself and your w orkstation before handling exposed circuit car d s .
NOISE SHIELD TA B 8 If you need to make an y adjustments to the MPC-X100 settings or if you need to r ecord them, do so no w , because the MPC-X100 will be inaccessible once the noise shield is installed and the input panel is re-installed into the amplifier chassis .
Bridged Mode Operation With the amplifier in bridged mono mode and dri ving a high- power sub w o ofer system, the MPC-X100 can be used as a sub woofer filter , taking full-r ang e audio from Channel 1 s input and sending on a 100 Hz lo w-pass signal to the amplifier circuitry .
Inser ting the resistor network T he factor y preset fr equency is 20 kHz. I f ther e is a resistor netw ork already installed in the soc ket, carefully pull it straight out. Insert the pins of the new resistor netw ork into the soc ket holes and carefully pr ess the netw or k into the soc ket.
Ultrasonic Filter Applications: An ultrasonic filter is useful f or minimizing RF interference, oscilla tions , leakag e or aliasing fr om digital de vices , or other signals that are too high in pitc h to hear but may wreak hav oc in an amplifier system.
Channel 2: 3 Set J202 to enable the Channel 2 s 100 Hz high-pass filter b y placing jumper acr oss pins 2 and 3. 4 CD hor n EQ If you need equalization f or a constant-directivity horn, set a jumper on J203 for the amount of boost you need. If you do not w ant CD horn equalization, do not place any jumper on J203.
Appendix Identifying resistor networks Use this chart to identify the v alues of the resistor net w o r k s . See the ta bles on p a ge 4 to find the co r rect v alues f or the desired filter frequencie s . Us e onl y thes e thre e digit s to determin e resistanc e code.
