ES-1528 User’s Guide 105 C HAPTER 18 SNMP This chapter describes how to user Simple Netw ork Management Protocol (SNMP) to manage and monitor the switch. 18.1 About SNMP Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is an application layer protocol us ed to manage and monitor TCP/IP-based devices.

Chapter 18 SNMP ES-1528 User’s Guide 11 2 18.4 SNMP Community SNMP communities are used to define the secur ity parameters of SNMP clients in an SNMP v1 and SNMP v2c enviro nments. The default SNMP community is “public” for both SNMP v1 and SNMP v2c before SN MP v3 is enabled.
