GETTING STARTED 3 English INTRODUCTION Please check t hat you recei ved all of the following parts. 1 Press the part and slide the battery compartment cover off. 2 Inser t four supplied batteries (AAA, R03, UM-4) accor ding to the polarity m arkings (+ and –) on the inside of the battery compartment.
CONTROLS AND FUNCTIONS 4 1 ST ANDBY/ON T urns on this unit or sets it to the standby mode. When you turn on this unit, you will hear a click and ther e will be a 4 to 5-second delay before this unit can reproduce sound. In standby mo de, this unit consumes a small amount of power in order to receive infrared-signa ls from the remote control.

SPEAKER SETUP 12 The speaker layout belo w sho ws the standard ITU-R speaker setting. Y ou can use it to enjoy CINEMA DSP and multi-channel audio sources. Fr ont speaker s (FR and FL) The front speakers are used fo r the main source sound plus effect sounds.
13 English SPEAKER SE TUP PREP ARA TION Be sure to connect the lef t channel (L), right channel (R), “+” (red) and “–” (black) properly . If the connections are faulty , no sound will be heard from the speakers, and if the polarity of the speaker connect ions is incorrect, the sound will be unnatural and lack bass.

AUTO SETUP 26 This receiv er employs Y AMAHA Parametric Room Acoustic Optimize r (YP A O) technology which lets you av oid troublesome listening-based speak er setup and achiev es highly accu rate sound adjustments. The supplied optimizer microphone collects and analyzes the sound your speakers produce in y our actual listening en vironment.
27 English AUTO SETUP PREP ARA TION For best results, make sure th e room is as quiet as possible during the auto setup proced ure (YP A O). If there is too much ambient noise, the results may not be satisf actory .

The name of the selected pr ogram appears in the front panel display . y Choose a sound f ield program based on yo ur listening pref erence, and not on th e name of the program.
35 English PLAYBACK BAS I C OPERA TION • Some 6.1-channel compatible discs do not ha ve a signal (flag) which this unit can automatically detect. When playing these kinds of discs with 6.1-channel, select a decoder (PLIIx Movie, PLIIx Music , EX/ES or EX) m anually .
36 PLAYBACK ■ Listening to high fidelity ster eo sound (PURE DIRECT) PURE DIRECT allows you to bypass this unit’ s decoders and DSP processors, and turn of f th e video circuitry and front panel display to enjoy pure high fi delity sound from analog and PCM sources.
37 English PLAYBACK BAS I C OPERA TION ■ Downmixing to 2 c hannels Y ou can enjoy 2-channel stereo playback e ven from multi- channel sources. Rotate PROGRAM (or press STEREO on the remote control) to select 2ch Stereo. 2ch Stereo y Y ou can use a subwoofer with this program when SWFR or BO TH is selected in “BASS OUT”.
38 PLAYBACK • When you play DTS-encoded CD/L Ds with the input mode set to A UTO: – This unit automatically switc hes to the DTS decoding mode. The unit remains in DTS mode (and the t indicator may flash) for up to 30 seconds after playback of the DTS source is complete.
TUNING (RX-V750) 39 English BAS I C OPERA TION There are 2 tuning methods ; automatic and manual. Automatic tuning is ef fecti ve when station signals are strong and there is no in terference. ■ A utomatic tuning 1 Rotate INPUT to selec t TUNER as the input source.
40 TUNING (RX-V750) ■ Manual tuning If the signal from the station you want to select is weak, tune into it manually . Manually tuning into an FM stati on will automatical ly switch the tuner to monaural re ception to increase the signal qualit y .
41 English TUNING (RX-V750) BAS I C OPERA TION 3 Press and hold MEMORY (MAN’L/A UTO FM) for more than 3 seconds. The preset number , the MEMOR Y and A UTO indicators flash. After about 5 seconds, automatic presetting starts from the frequency currently displayed and proceeds to ward the higher frequencies.
42 TUNING (RX-V750) 4 Press PRESET/TUNING l / h to select a preset station number (1 through 8) while the MEMOR Y indicato r is flashing. Press h to select a higher preset station number . 44 TUNING (RX-V750) RDS (Radio Data System) is a data transmission system used by FM stations in ma n y countries. The RDS function is carried out among the network stations.

54 ADVANCED OPERATIONS Y ou can use the test tone feature to manually balance your speaker le ve ls. Please note that this operation will o verride the le vel adjustme nts made in “A UTO SETUP” (page 26), “SPEAKER LEVEL” (page 59) and “Manually adjusting speaker le v els” (page 53).
SET MENU 55 English AD V ANCED OPERA TION Y ou can use the f ollowing parameters in SET MENU to adjust a v ariety of system settings and customize the w ay this unit operates. Change the initial settings (indicated in bold under each parameter) to reflect the needs of your listenin g en vironment.
56 SET MENU Use the remote control to access an d adjust each parameter . y Y ou can change SET MENU parameters while the unit is reproducing sou nd. Y ou cannot change some SET MENU parameter s while the unit is in either cinema or music night listening mode.
57 English SET MENU AD V ANCED OPERA TION Use to manually adjust an y speaker setti ng or compensate for video signal processing delays when using LCD monitors or projectors. Most of the SOUND MENU parameters are set automatica lly when you run auto setup (see page 26).
58 SET MENU Surround bac k speakers SURR B L/R SP Choices: NONE, SMLx1, SMLx2 , LRGx1, LRGx2 • Select NONE if you do not hav e a surround back speaker . The unit directs all of the surround back channel signal to the surround left and right speakers.
59 English SET MENU AD V ANCED OPERA TION Subw oofer phase SUBWOOFER PHASE If bass sounds are lacking or unclear , use this feature to switch the phase of your subw oofer . Choices: NORMAL (normal), REVERSE (reverse) • Select NORMAL if you do not want to rev erse the phase of your subwoofer .
60 SET MENU ■ Center graphic equalizer D)CE NTER GEQ Use this feature to adjust the built-in 5-band graphic equalizer for the center channel so that the tonal quality of the center speak er matches that of the front speak ers. This parameter adjust s the height of the front and center channel sounds (d ialog, vocals , etc.) b y assigning some of the front and cent er channel elem ents to the presence speakers.

Choices: –4 to 0 Video con ver sion V CONV. Use this feature to turn on/off con version of composite (VIDEO) signals to both S-V ideo and component signals.
64 SET MENU ■ Pa rameter initialization C)PARAM. INI Use this feature to initialize the param eters for each sound fie ld program within a sound fiel d program group. When you initialize a sound fiel d program group, all of the parameter valu es within that group rev ert to th eir initial settings.
REMOTE CONTROL FEATURES 65 English AD V ANCED OPERA TION In addition to controlling this unit, the remote control can also operate ot her A/V components made by Y AMAHA and other manufacturers. T o contro l other components, you must set up remote control with the appropriate manufacturer codes.
66 REMOTE CONTROL FEATURES Y ou can control oth er components by setting the appropriate manufacturer co de s. Codes can be set up for each input area. The following table sho ws th e factory preset component (Library: component category ) and the manufacturer code for each area.
67 English REMOTE CONTROL FEATURES AD V ANCED OPERA TION 4 Press one of the buttons shaded belo w to see if you can contr ol y our component. If y ou can, the manufacturer code is correct. y • If the man ufacturer of your componen t has more than one codes, try each of them until you find the correct one.
68 REMOTE CONTROL FEATURES Once you set the appropriate manufacturer codes, you can use this remote to control your other components. Note that some b uttons ma y not correctly operate the se lected component. Use the input select or b uttons to select the component you want to operate.
69 English REMOTE CONTROL FEATURES AD V ANCED OPERA TION If you want to program function s not included in the basic operations co vered by the manuf acturer code, or an appropriate manufacturer code is not av ailable, do the follo wing. Y ou can program any of the b uttons a vailable in the component control area (see page 65).
70 REMOTE CONTROL FEATURES • “NG” appears in the display window if programming was unsuccessful. In this case, start over from step 5. • This remote control can learn approximately 120 fu nctions. Howe v er depending on the si gnals learned, “FULL” may appear in the display before you pr ogram 120 functions.

76 SOUND FIELD PARAMETER DESCRIPTIONS ■ LIVENESS Function: This paramete r adjusts the reflecti vity o f the virtual walls in the hall b y chan ging the rate a t which th e early reflec tions decay .
77 English SOUND FIELD PARAMETER DESCRIPTIONS ADDITIONAL INFORMA TION ■ REV .TIME (Reverberation time) Function: This parameter adjusts the am ount of time it tak es for the dense, subsequent rev erberation sound to decay by 60 dB (at 1 kHz). This changes the appa rent size of the acoustic environment o ver an extremely wide range.
78 SOUND FIELD PARAMETER DESCRIPTIONS ■ DIALG.LIFT (Dialog lift) Function: This parameter adjusts the hei ght of the front and center channel s ounds by assigning some of the fro nt and center cha nnel elements to the presence spe akers. Description: The larger the parame ter , the higher the position of the front and center ch annel sound.

RESETTING THE FACTORY PRE SETS 84 If you want to reset all of your unit’ s parameters for any reason, do the follo wing. This procedure completely reset s ALL parameters, including th e SET MENU, lev el, assign and tuner presets. Be sure this unit is in standb y mode.
