Installation Before y ou start, y ou should prepare : • One Windows ® 98/Me/2000/XP PC with CD-R OM • One 802.11b Access point and Wireless Adapter • One USB printer • Network Protocol TCP/IP must be installed Har dware Installation 1. T ur n the power off to the printer .
Note: For some specific printers you may need to connect the pritner to the computer and install the driver first and then connect it to the print ser v er. 10 Installation Software installation 1. Inser t the CD on any Windows 98/ME/2000/XP computer and the Setup Wizard will star t.
The Wizard will search f or the print ser v er on y our network. If the print ser v er does not sho w up , clic k the [Refresh] b utton. Note: If you’re Print Server does not show up after clic king the Refresh button, y ou may need to change the SSID of the Print Ser v er to match the SSID of your network.
This window allows y ou to configure the print ser ver . Select “ Y es, I w ant to change settings” and click Ne xt. By default, there is no pass word. 6. 12 Installation Once the wizard is finished searching, highlight the print ser ver and clic k Ne xt.
Basic Wireless Settings - In this windo w you can change the Communication T ype, SSID and Data T ransmission rates. Change the SSID to match y our wireless network SSID .
14 Installation TCP/IP Settings – In this window y ou can configure the Wireless Print Server to obtain an IP address automatically from y our DHCP ser v er , or you can specify an IP address if y our networ k does not hav e a DHCP ser ver . Select which fits your netw ork best and click Next.
15 Installation Installation complete. Click Finish to close the wizard. 11. NO TE: If you had to change the SSID of the print ser v er to match your network SSID , it can now be taken out of diagnostic mode . Flip the dip switch to the left bac k to nor mal mode.
16 Installation Change the SSID of y ou network card back to the SSID used on y our network and change the Network T ype back to Infrastructure. 12. 13. Now select the Netw ork Pr int Ser v er Setup Wizard. This wizard will guide you through the installation of the network pr int server .
The wizard will now search f or print ser vers on the network. 17 Installation 15. 14. Before w e proceed, make sure y our print ser v er and pr inter are on.
Once the ser v er finds the print ser v er , highlight it and click Ne xt. 18 Installation 16. 17. Since we hav e already set-up the pr int ser v er in the pre vious section, select “No , I don’t want to change the settings, ” and click Ne xt.
19 Installation 18. The wizard will help you set up the printer that is connected to the print ser ver . Select “Add Ne w Printer” . If y our dr iv er is already installed, select the driver and click Ne xt. 19. The “Help f or Adding a New Printer” windo w has specific instructions to help you add the printer .

23 Installation 27. Indicate whether y ou want to share this printer on y our network and click Ne xt. Note: There should be no reason to share it as the print ser ver will take care of that f or you. 26. Assign your printer a name. Select Y es to set this printer as the default printer .

27 Macintosh Installation IOGEAR Wireless Print Server Installation in Mac OSX 1. Open the box the Wireless Print Ser v er came in. F ollow the proper included instr uctions f or hooking it up to your Printer . 2. After the pr int server has been plugged in, mo ve the s witch on top of the Wireless Print Ser v er to enable Ad Hoc mode .

34 Macintosh Installation 18. This is the wireless section. Basic Settings – Here you will configure the Mode , SSID , Channel , and Data T ransmission rates of the Print Server . Mode – Select Infrastr ucture SSID – In the pull down bo x, select y our Wireless Router from the list.

Changing the SSID on the Print Server T o change the SSID on the Pr int Ser v er , you must wirelessly connect to the print ser ver in AD-HOC (Computer-to-Computer) mode while the Print Server is in a Diagnostic mode , unplug the unit, flip the DIP s witch to the right side, the side near the power connector , and plug the unit back.

IPP Overview Print ser v er(s) suppor t the Internet Pr inting Protocol (IPP). Using the appropriate software on y our system, you can create an IPP print path from your system as Windows PC ov er the Internet. Note: F or incoming print path requests, the netw or k administrator has to configure the firew all to accept incoming IPP requests.
Select the appropriate printer manufacturer and printer type again and click Ne xt . 8. In URL ’ s bo x, input pr int ser ver’ s IP address, f or e xample , http://192.168.10.182/lp1. Then Clic k Next . ** One port should be the por t name as lp1.
If you w ant your Windows-based programs to use this printer as the default printer , please select Ye s , and click Ne xt . 9. Click Finish. 10. Internet Printing 56.
Configuration from Embed ded W eb Ser ver W eb Based Configuration Overview The Print Ser ver contains an embedded web serv er that can be accessed through a suppor ted web browser on a LAN, f or e xample, IE 4.0, Netscape 4.0 or abov e is recommended.
Y ou will be able to view system status , such as De vice Name, System Contact, System Location, System Uptime, and Firmware V ersion. Printer Status Printer status displa ys the infor mation for the printer that is connected to the wireless printer ser ver .
SSID: The Ser vice Set ID . This should be set to the same v alue as other wireless devices in y our network. (Def ault: ANY) Channel Number : The r adio channel through which the Print Ser ver communicates . Data T ransmit Rate: Set the rate of data transmitted from the Print Ser v er .
Use DHCP/BOO TP: This option allo ws y ou to view DHCP/ BOO TP status. If there is a DHCP/BOO TP ser v er on y our network, this option allows the print ser v er to obtain IP-related settings automatically from your DHCP serv er . IP Address: This option allows y ou to vie w IP address from the print ser ver .
Apple T alk Apple T alk displa ys the AppleT alk settings of the pr int ser ver . General Settings Allows y ou to vie w NetW are Settings, such as Print Server Name, P olling Time, Netw are NDS Setting, Netware Bindery Setting, and the Name of the File Ser v er .
W eb Based Configuration Device Name: This option allows y ou to input device name of the print ser v er. T o correct the pr int ser v er’ s de vice name. System Contact: This option allo ws you to input contact name of the print ser v er . T o check the print ser v er’ s contact name who in charge of this device .
WEP Settings Use WEP : Enable or Disable encryption. Ke y Format: Select whether y ou w ant the K e y format to be either alphanumeric or hexadecimal. WEP Key- Enter the alphanumeric or hexadecimal WEP K e y in this bo x. Click the “Help” button for assistance.
TCP IP Status This section allows y ou to configure the TCP/IP settings of the wireless print ser ver . DHCP/BOO TP: This option allows y ou to select DHCP/ BOO TP option. This option allo ws the print ser v er to obtain IP-related settings automatically from your DHCP server .
NetW are Setup This section allows y ou to configure the NetW are settings of the wireless print ser ver . W eb Based Configuration Print Server Name: This option allows y ou to input print ser ver name which configured b y PSAdmin utility or PCOMSOLE progr am.
W eb Based Configuration SNMP Setup This section allows y ou to configure the SNMP settings of the print ser ver . Support HP W ebJetAdmin: This option allows user deter mine to disable/enab le the Suppor t HP W ebJetAdmin. SNMP Comm unity: The pr int ser v er suppor ts up to two community names .
W eb Based Configuration Zone Name: T ype an AppleT alk Zone name that you want the print ser v er to belong to or leav e it in def ault (This enables the print server automatically search and link itself to the default z one that is set on the AppleT alk router) .
1. Click on the Browse b utton and search f or the binar y file. 2. Once you’ve f ound the binary file, clic k the Upgr ade b utton. Load Default This button allows y ou to reset the Wireless Pr int Ser v er back to the f actor y settings.
Once you select the Load Def ault b utton, a windo w will appear . The window will ask you if y ou want to restore factory def ault settings. Click OK to restore the settings. Once you clic k OK and the settings hav e been successfully restored, a new windo w will appear .
