Y our Wireless-G USB 2.0 Flex Adaptor should be located in the USB por t of your computer , and it looks like the f ollowing picture: Concerning to the issue of orientation-controlling, Wireless-G USB 2.0 Flex Adaptor allo ws you to twist and rotate the USB connector to meet your needs.

f) 11 Installation e) Click Next in the WLAN 802.11G USB window to proceed. The system will star t to cop y the drivers f ound. Windows will notify y ou that the driver has not passed the Windows Logo testing.
12 Installation g) On the Reboot screen, you ma y choose either Y es, I want to restart my computer now or No, I will restart my computer later . Then click Finish to complete the installation. Now you shall find the Wireless-G Configu- ration T ool tray icon, ,appeared in the system tray .
If y our system is running Windo ws XP , you shall find that f our tabs are contained in the Wireless Settings dialog box after y ou’ve f ollowed the instructions abov e and success- fully installed the drivers. Howev er , nor mally , the dialog box should be consisted of se ven tabs.
Choose the Wireless Networks tab in the Wireless Network Connection Pr operties dialog box, and remo ve the chec k from the Use Windows to configure m y wireless network settings chec kbo x. 14 Right-click the Netw ork Connections icon at the task bar to open the Wireless Network Connection Status dialog bo x, and then select Properties .

Note: Once you choose an item from the Preferred networks list and then click Properties , the Wireless Network Pr operties dialog box will also be prov oked. In the opened Wireless Network Properties dialog bo x, edit te xts in the Network Name (SSID) field to identify the chosen network entr y in the wireless LAN.
If there’ s a need, go to the Wireless network ke y (WEP) area to set the ke ys as the associated access point or Wireless LAN PC Card equipped computer requests. T o set WEP , select Data encryption (WEP enabled) and Network A uthentication . Then enter the encryption key f or the network you intend to connect in the Network key filed.
T o Access to Certain Wireless Network T ype The default netw ork type of Windows XP Zero Configuration is any a vailable access points (Access P oint mode) or WLAN Card equipped computers (Ad-Hoc mode) within the range at the giv en time. Howe ver , you ma y wish to connect to a cer tain network type sometimes.
Wireless-G Configuration T ool Basics After successfully installing the driver f or your Wireless-G USB 2.0 Fle x Adaptor on your computer , you ma y now access Wireless-G Configuration T ool for better control your wireless network.
Wireless-G Configuration T ool Basics Right Click Menu of the T ray Icon Right-clicking the Wireless-G Configuration T ool icon in the system tray will open a menu as the following picture: Wireless Radio On Choose the Wireless Radio On command to receive the radio frequency signal.
Wireless-G Configuration T ool Basics Wireless Netw ork Status Choose this command to launch the Status tab of the Wireless Settings dialog box. Ad v anced Configuration Choose this command to launch the Configu- ration tab of the Wireless Settings dialog bo x.
Configuration Program Contr ols When you doub le-click the Wireless-G Configuration T ool tra y icon, the Wireless Settings dialog box will be prompted as the picture shows below .
Note: The te xts before “Wireless Settings” in the caption bar of the dialog box are the profile name of the current connection. Thus, the caption conte xts vary according to the connectivity at the given time. From the left picture , the associated profile is named “ Default ”.

Current Tx Rate: This feature indicates the tr ansmission rate of the current connection. Current Channel: Here rev eals the current channel operated in the wireless network. Note that the channel number diff ers as the radio scans any av ailable channels in the Infr astructure mode.
The Configuration T ab Click this tab to edit diff erent profiles for different netw ork configurations. When finish changing the settings, please click Apply to perf orm the new configuration at last. Note: Choosing the Advanced Configuration command from the right-click menu of Wireless-G Configuration T ool tr ay icon will launch this tab too .
T o identify a new profile, enter te xts in the Profile Name field. After defining the configurations below , click the Apply button to estab lish a new profile. T o switch between any existing profiles, click the arrow b utton at the right of the Profile Name field to open the pull-down menu and then select an intended one from it.
P eer-to-P eer Channel: This command is only av ailable while y ou are operating the P eer-to-P eer mode, the so- called Ad-Hoc mode. Specify the operating radio frequency channel from the pull-do wn menu if y ou are the creator of the wireless network.
Encryption (WEP security): If you choose Disabled from the pull-down list, you will ha ve the Wireless-G USB Adapter communicated with all stations within the same networking community without any data encryption. Otherwise , two k ey lengths are offered: 64 bit and 128 bit .
Create Keys Manuall y: Once you set the Encryption type as 64 bit or 128 bit , you ma y choose to edit WEP ke ys manually or create them via the passphrase of your wireless netw ork. If you choose the Create Keys Manuall y option, y ou may directly enter up to 4 WEP k eys f or use in WEP encryption.

The IBSS T ab If you, as a creator of the wireless network, are communicating with other stations via the IBSS (802.11 Ad-hoc) mode to fo r m peer-to-peer networks, click the IBSS ( I ndependent B asic S er vice S et) tab to specify an operating radio frequency channel from the pull-down list under the IBSS Channel Selection section.
The Domain T ab While in the 2.4GHz range, the netw ork operation ma y differ from country to countr y , or domain to domain. This is because the 802.11d protocol was established. T o ha ve the operation normally processed, choose the Domain tab to change relev ant settings.
Adapter scans all communications channels f or an access point which provides inf orma- tion about the channels, frequencies, and power le vels per mitted in your location. Once it finds such an access point, the Wireless-G USB Adapter conforms its operations to these standards.
The About T ab This tab provides general inf ormation on your Wireless-G USB Adapter , including the f ollowing items. Note: Choosing the V ersion Information command from the right-click menu of Wireless-G Configuration T ool tra y icon will launch this tab too.
Adv anced Properties Control The Advanced Properties tab pro vides access to operating parameters f or the network adaptor , which are not controlled by the configuration utility . These proper ties are accessed through the Windo ws hardware device manager .
When you click on the Adv anced tab in the opened dialog box, a displa y similar to the follo wing appears. 4. Y ou shall see the v alue for any of these proper ties by clicking on an item displa yed in the Property field. If a value has been set f or the property , it appears in the V alue field to the right of the list.
Configuration Pr ofile Specify a pre-defined profile with standard parameters from here. The provided profiles include: • B only – for oper ation in 802.11b environments only • B WIFI – f or operation in 802.11b environments conf or ming to Wi-Fi standards • G only – for oper ation in 802.
P o wer Sa ve Mode This proper ty turns the Station Pow er Sav e f eature on or off, or sets it to A uto. When in A uto mode, the station enters P ower Sav e based on the battery condition (XP only) on the host. Power Sa ve Mode decreases the amount of power consumed by the adapter by pow ering off the radio for short per iods.
The Long/Shor t Retr y Limit The Long Retr y Limit or Short Retr y Limit is the maximum number of retransmission of a data pack et because of the failure of receiving CTS or ACK.
