It complies with USB 2.0 specifications (and is backw ard compatible with USB 1.1), and provides an auto-sensing Ethernet por t that works with either 10Base-T or 100Base-T networks.

Network 8 Hard ware Installation Connect a USB cable from the printer to the USB por t on the print ser ver . Connect one end of the ethernet patch cable to the ethernet por t on the print server .
9 Software Installation - Windows Inser t the Setup CD into your computer . The setup utility should launch automatically . If it does not, browse to your CD drive and launch the autorun.e xe file from the CD . Click the Setup Wizard option from the main menu.
10 Software Installation - Windows The wizard will scan your network f or the print ser ver and displa y the results in a list. If no ser ver is f ound, disable all firew all software and any e xtra network cards (such as a wireless adapter) on your computer e xcept the one the pr int server is on and click Refresh to search again.
1 1 Changing the network settings of the print ser ver to a fix ed IP address is not necessary but will provide more stability in the ev ent of a power outage, and can be useful if you are setting up IPP to print ov er the internet.
12 Software Installation - Windows Here you can specify the network settings the print ser ver will use . If you will be printing from the inter net, it is impor tant that the Gatew ay IP Address is set to the IP of your router . Click Next to continue.
13 Software Installation - Windows All existing printers installed on y our computer will show up in this list. Select the model that is now attached to the print server and click Next to contin ue. If the printer you are setting up does not show up in the list, click Add Ne w Printer and install your printer’ s dr ivers as needed.
14 Software Installation - Windows If you get the f ollowing message, the print server’ s IP settings are not set up correctly for y our networ k. Click Back until y ou see the screen in step 4, then change the print server’ s network settings. Y ou ma y use DHCP to set them automatically if the print server is connected to a router .
15 Software Installation - Windows Setup of your print server is now complete . Click Finish to close the wizard. 10..
16 Software Installation - Mac No software from the Setup CD is needed on Macintosh systems. Simply open the Print and Fax settings from y our System Preferences windo w . Click the plus (+) button to setup a ne w printer. 1. At the top of the Printer Browser , click the icon for IP printer .
17 Select the LPD protocol, then type in the IP address of the print ser ver . T ype “ lp1 ” with lowercase letters f or the name of the Queue. Name the new printer and select the model below . Click Add when you are finished, and you are ready to print.
18 Software Installation – IPP T o print from a remote location, you will first need to make sure port 631 is forw arded through your router’ s firewall to the print ser ver . Then simply set up IPP using the address http://(print-ser ver-ip):631/lp1 as sho wn here on an example Windows XP system.
19 Software Installation – IPP Select the option for a netw ork pr inter , then click Ne xt . 3. Select the option to connect to a printer on the internet, and type in the full IPP address as shown. Y ou m ust use the external, or W AN, IP address of your router if the print ser ver is behind one .
20 Software Installation – IPP The wizard will ask you to choose the model of your printer . Click OK when you hav e chosen the appropriate driver . 5. Click Finish to complete the wizard and begin printing to your home or office printer from anywhere in the world.
