The GBE201 f ollows the Bluetooth 1.1 specification and suppor ts the headset and hands-free profile. The Bluetooth headset also comes with a USB charger cable to make it convenient f or mobile users to charge the unit while on the road.

8 Intr oduction T urn ON the headset 1. Press and hold the multi-function button f or about six (6) seconds; the blue LED will flash quickly f our (4) times.
Charging the Battery Y ou must charge the internal batter y of the Bluetooth headset bef ore your first use. Thereafter, the red LED will flash when the battery is low and emit a warning sound. A fully-charged battery will give y ou approximately 4.5 hours of talk time, and 100 hours stand-b y time.

Pairing Pr ocedure Pairing is a Bluetooth function that enables Bluetooth de vices to remain per manently link ed to each other . By pair ing de vices, you only need to authenticate and author iz e communication between your devices once . During the pairing procedure, a PIN code is required for secure authentication.
T o pair the IOGEAR Bluetooth headset with your Bluetooth phone, f ollow the procedure below: 1. Make sure that the IOGEAR Bluetooth headset is OFF . 2. Press and hold the multi-function button f or about nine (9) seconds; the red LED will turn ON and the blue LED will star t rapidly flashing; the headset is now in pairing mode.
3. Follo w your cell phone’ s instructions to search for Bluetooth devices. The IOGEAR Bluetooth headset will sho w up as “IOGEAR BT Headset. ” If the headset is not found on your first attempt, tr y again as it ma y tak e a few tries the first time y ou sear ch for t he de vice.

How to Use Headset Before proceeding, please check the f ollowin g: First, make sure that y ou ha ve already paired the Bluetooth headset with your cell phone . Otherwise, you will be prompted to author ize the connection e very time the Bluetooth headset communicates with your phone.
NOTE: If the phone call is not automatically tr ansf erred to the Bluetooth headset, press the multi-function button once to tr ansfer the call to the headset. Y our phone ma y prompt you if you wi sh to accept the connection from the Bluetooth headset; simply clic k Y es/OK.
Ending a call If you wish to terminate a call while using the Bluetooth headset, please do the f ollowing: 1. Press the multi-function button once to hang up 2. Y ou should now hear a beep sound from the headset indicating call has terminated Alternatively , you can terminate the phone call in the usual way using your cell phone’ s keypads.
Redial a number If you wish to redial the last number using the Bluetooth headset, please f ollow the procedure below: 1. Press and hold an y of the volume buttons (volume up or volume down) f o r appro ximately 3-5 seconds.
Answering a call Before proceeding, mak e sure you hav e already paired your Bluetooth phone and headset. 1. Put on the Bluetooth headset (make sure that it’ s tur ned on). 2. When you hear the ring tone on the headset, simply press the multi-function button once to pick up the call.
Reject a call T o reject a call using the headset, do the following: 1. Y ou will hear the ringing tone on your Bluetooth headset 2. Press and hold the multi-function button f or 3 seconds until y our.
Connecting Headset to PC/laptp The IOGEAR Bluetooth headset can also be used on your PC/ Laptop . W h y would you want to use your headset on your computer? The ans wer is simple: • V oice Over IP Please note that in order f or this to work, the Bluetooth software on your PC/Laptop , must suppor t the Headset profile.
Connecting Headset to PC/Laptop 24 1. Open My Bluetooth Places and click on Search for de vices in range . The headset will be displayed as “IOGEAR BT Headset”.
2. Right-click on the icon representing the IOGEAR headset, and select “P air Device. ” When prompted f or a PIN code, enter “1234” Connecting Headset to PC/Laptop 25.
3. T o access the ser vices offered by the headset, doub le-click the IOGEAR headset icon. Now , right click on the icon displa yed below and select “Connect Headset.
4. Upon successful connection, the icon will turn green and it will say “connected” as sho wn below . Also note that the Bluetooth icon on y our tra y bar will turn green.

V oice Over IP With V oice-Over-IP progr ams, y ou can use your Internet connection to make calls to your f amily/friends over the Internet. Examples of these are chat prog rams that let you hav e voice conv ersations such as MSN messenger , yahoo messenger , etc.
Bluetooth Audio Driver s Before proceeding, you need to check that y our Bluetooth software has properly installed all Audio driv ers necessar y; otherwise, y ou will not be able to use the Bluetoot h headset as an audi o de vice. T o verify this, go to Control Panel and look under Sound, video and game controller s , as shown belo w .

SKYPE Configure software Before y ou can use the Bluetooth headset with y our V oi ce-Over-IP program, you need to first specify the headset as the source for A udio-IN and Audio-OUT .
2. Now go to the Hand/ Headsets tab . As you see below , the sound device specified is the Windows def ault device (most likely your PC/ Laptop speakers).
3. Click on each of the menu options and select Bluetooth A udio and then click Sa ve . NOTE : The name of the audio device sho wn here is what w as displayed in Control P anel under the Sound, video and game controllers section.
4. Y ou should now be able to use the IOGEAR Bluetooth headset as your audio de vice w ith your V oi ce-Ov er-IP software. If you encounter any prob lems, please consult y our softw are documentation.
MSN Messenger V oice chat Configure softw are Before y ou can use the Bluetooth headset with y our V oi ce-Over-IP program, you need to first specify the headset as the source for A udio-IN and A udio-OUT .

Q1. My Bluetooth phone cannot find the IOGEAR Bluetooth headset, what is wr ong? Please make sure that you ha ve set the headset in pairing mode (discov er able mode) as indicated in the “Pairing Procedure” section of this manual. Please keep in mind that if the Blue LED is blinking, but the red LED is off, the headset is in stand-b y mode .
F AQ/T roubleshooting Q3. What Bluetooth phones are compatib le with the IOGEAR Bluetooth headset? Most phones that are compatib le with the Headset or Handsfree profile should work with the headset. If your phone is Bluetooth-enabled, but does not suppor t either of these profiles, it will not w ork with the headset.
