10 Intr oduction IOGEAR ® ’ s Wireless Bluetooth™ to USB Adapter is a class 2 de vice with a wireless working distance of 60 f eet (20 meters). This de vice allows any computer with USB connections to become a Blue- tooth™ enabled computer . It complies with Bluetooth 2.
11 Installation-Windows Windows XP Service P ack 2 The Microsoft Bluetooth stack comes included with Ser vice P ack 2 f or Windows XP . If you already ha ve Ser vice P ack 2 installed, y ou may choose not to install drivers from the installation CD and instead use the Microsoft Bluetooth drivers .
12 Installation-Windows 2. If you accept the license ag reement, click Ne xt..
13 Installation-Windows 3. When you approach the end of the installation process, the Driv er Signature Notice may appear . Simply click OK to proceed with the installation.
14 5. Once the driver installation has completed, clic k Finish and REST AR T your computer 6. After restar ting the computer , proceed to plug in the Bluetooth USB Adapter , and wait a f ew seconds while Windows recognizes the de vice. Installation-Windows 4.
15 Initial Bluetooth™ Confi guration Wizar d 1. Once the Initial Bluetooth™ Confi guration Wizard has star ted, click Ne xt. 2. Now doub le click the Bluetooth™ icon in the system tra y . This will star t the “Initial Bluetooth Confi guration Wizard.
16 Initial Bluetooth™ Confi guration Wizar d Ne xt, enter a unique name for this computer . This name will be displa yed to other Bluetooth™ de vices. Select a computer type from the drop- down men u and click Next. 3. Click Ne xt to confi gure the ser vices this com- puter will off er to other Bluetooth™ devices .
17 Choose the ser vices that this computer will off er to other Bluetooth™ devices b y placing a check in the bo x. T o display the properties, click on the confi gure button. Click Ne xt to proceed. 5. At this point, Windows will install the softw are necessar y f or the ser vices you selected.
18 Initial Bluetooth™ Confi guration Wizar d Once Windows is fi nished installing the softw are, the f ollowing window will appear . This window will allow y ou to confi gure your computer to use the ser vice of another Bluetooth De vice.
19 Uninstall Drivers Windows 1. First, unplug the IOGEAR USB Bluetooth adapter from your computer 2. Go to Control P anel (Star t > Settings > Control P anel) 3. Click on Add or Remo ve Progr ams 4. Click on IOGEAR Bluetooth Software and clic k on [Remov e] 5.
20 Installation-Mac OS X Installation – MA C OS X 1. Use of the IOGEAR Bluetooth adapter requires MA C OS X v10.3.9 or later . There is no need to install any additional driv ers, as Apple provides all required Bluetooth drivers under MA C OS X v10.
21 2. Double-clic k on the Bluetooth icon and under the Settings tab , make sure Bluetooth P ow er is ON and that the box ne xt to Discov erable is chec ked.
22 3. T o begin setting up your Bluetooth de vice, select the De vices tab and click on Set Up New De vice . 4. This will initiate the Bluetooth Setup Assistant; click Contin ue to proceed.
23 Installation-Mac OS X 5. On this window , you can select what type of Bluetooth de vice you want to setup . Please make y our choice below and then clic k Continue . 6. Y our computer will search Bluetooth devices in your area and displa y them under the window below .
24 1. Double-clic k on the IOGEAR ® Bluetooth ™ icon in the system tra y . Connect to a Cellular Phone How to connect to a Cellular Phone (Bluetooth Enabled) Ne xt, click on Search f or devices in r ange. As illustrated belo w , the Bluetooth-enabled cell phone is detected.
25 In the case of Nokia phones, y ou can take full advantage of y our Bluetooth phone by using the Nokia PC Suite software . Please check www .nokia.com to see the version of the software supported by your Nokia phone . Once you ha ve the Nokia PC Suite software installed on y our system, please proceed with the instr uctions below .
26 T ransfer images fr om PC to cell phone 1. Double-clic k on the IOGEAR ® Bluetooth ™ icon in the system tra y . How to transfer images from your cell phone to PC 2.
27 3. Double-clic k on your current phone that is connecting to your PC . 4. Double-clic k on the OBEX fi le transfer on “name of y our phone”. T ransfer images fr om PC to cell phone.
28 5. Double-clic k on the picture folder . Right-click on the images fi le that you want to transf er to your PC . Scroll down to Send T o , then select Bluetooth Exchange Folder .
29 The fi le will be transf erred to the Bluetooth Exchange F older on your PC . 7. T ransfer images fr om PC to cell phone.
30 8. On your PC , go into My Documents. T ransfer images fr om PC to cell phone.
31 9. Double-clic k on Bluetooth Exchage Folder , and you will fi nd the copied fi le in this f older . T ransfer images fr om PC to cell phone.
32 Find the image on your PC that y ou want to transf er to your cell phone . 1. How to transfer images from your PC to cell phone. T ransfer images fr om cell phone to PC Right-click on the image . Scroll down to Send T o , then Bluetooth , then select other .
33 3. Select your cell phone and clic k OK 4. The cop ying process will begin 5. After it is fi nished, y ou can go back to the picture f older on your cell phone. Just f ollow the procedures in operstion “ How to transfer images fr om your cell phone to PC ” to open up the folder .

36 How to Connect to Netw ork Access (Bluetooth - Enabled Computer) Ne xt, click on Search f or devices in r ange. As il- lustrated belo w , the Bluetooth-enabled computer is f ound. 2. 1. Connect to Netw ork Access Double-clic k on the IOGEAR Bluetooth Icon in the system tra y .
37 Double clic k on the device to displa y a list of its ser vices. T o establish a network connection, right click on Network Access and select Connect to Network Access P oint. 3. When the connection is being established, y ou will be prompted to accept/deny the connection on your other computer .
38 Once you estab lish the connection, the Network Ac- cess icon will tur n green and sa y “Connected. ” Y our de vice will be able to share its Internet connection (if the de vice has Inter net access) and fi les . If a pass ke y has been set by either de vice, the pass ke y is required to connect both Bluetooth™ enabled de vices.
39 How to connect to a Bluetooth ™ Enab led Printer 1. Double-clic k on the IOGEAR ® Bluetooth™ icon in the system tra y . Connect to a Printer Ne xt double click on “ Find Bluetooth™ Devices ”.
40 Double clic k on the printer you wish to connect to . 3. Connect to a Printer Click OK to install the printer . If your printer is already installed, the printer proper ties window will appear .

43 Connect to a PD A At any time , when ser vice requests are made from or to another Bluetooth™ de vice (e.g. File T ransfer , Network Access, Serial P or t Connec- tion, etc.), a pass ke y is required to connect the de vices.This authentication is not required once de vices are paired (see Chapter : What’ s P airing? ).
44 Using ActiveSync via Bluetooth Disclaimer Important Notice IOGEAR does not guarantee the f eatures and functions of ActiveSync softw are on all PD A phones and PC , nor the synchronization capabilities between PD A phones and PC via Bluetooth connection.
45 Using Active Syne via Bluetooth Impor tant Notice: ActiveSync 4.0 needs to be installed prior to installing the IOGEAR Bluetooth software on y our PC.
46 Using ActiveSync via Bluetooth Y our PD A phone will prompt f or input of the passke y . Please enter “0000” and click OK on the top right cor ner to continue Y ou will see a dialog bo x appears on the bottom right cor ner of your PC screen, clic k on this dialog bo x and enter “0000” into the te xt box of Bluetooth security code.
47 Using ActiveSync via Bluetooth Y our PD A will tr y to establish the connection now Y ou will see again a dialog bo x appears on the bottom right cor ner of your PC screen, clic k on this dialog bo x and check the bo x for “Alwa ys allow this de vice to access this ser vice.
48 Using ActiveSync via Bluetooth Select the f olders and fi les that y ou wish to synchronize and clic k Next to contin ue 19. Select Synchronize with this desktop computer and click Ne xt to continue 18.

50 What is “P airing ?” P airing is a Bluetooth™ function that enables Bluetooth™ de vices to remain per manently linked to another . What “P airing” means in terms of security? As mentioned, P airing allows devices to permanently link with each other .
51 Unpairing Devices 1. Right-click on the Bluetooth™ de vice and select on “P air de vice”. 2. Enter a P ass Key when ask ed. Note: The Pass K ey on both devices m ust be the same! Example: If Device 1 tries to pair with De vice 2, Device 1 will prompt f or a Pass K e y .
52 Windows XP Service P ack 2 - Bluetooth Stac k If you are running Windows XP with Service Pac k 2, you ma y use the Bluetooth drivers provided b y Microsoft. Keep in mind, ho we ver , that this Bluetooth stac k has limited Bluetooth profi les suppor t.
53 4. T o connect with your Bluetooth de vice, simply right-click on the Bluetooth icon on the tra ybar and select Add a Bluetooth De vice . 3. Optionally , you can fi nd this in Control P anel > Bluetooth De vices .
54 5. Make sure to set y our Bluetooth device in “discover able” mode and check the bo x as shown on the picture . 6. Y our computer will search for all the Bluetooth de vices in your area and list them. Select the desired de vice, and click Ne xt.
55 7. Please consult the user manual for y our Bluetooth de vice to see if you need a P asske y to pair/establish a connection. 8. Y our Bluetooth device will then connect to the IOGEAR Bluetooth adapter . T o fi nish the process, simply clic k Finish .
