Setting up Your Dialogue XL-50 There are five steps involved in set- ting up your Dialogue XL-50. • Insert four AA alkaline batteries for back-up in case of AC power outage. • Decide if you want the phone to sit on a desk or hang on the wall. • Connect the telephone components.
Setting up Your Dialogue XL-50 (continued) Desktop Use 1. Connect the telephone line cord and the handset cord to the telephone as shown in Figure 4. 2. Plug the AC adapter into an electric outlet and into the tele- phone as shown in Figure 4. 3. Lift the handset and listen for a dial tone.
Using Your Dialogue XL-50 Caution: Repeated incremental expo- sure to amplification levels greater than 18 dB may be harmful to indi- viduals without hearing disabilities. Therefore, do not remove the warning label attached to the back of the handset.
Ringer V olume and Pitch 1. Y ou can adjust the RINGER V OLUME as high as 95+ decibels. The settings available are LO , MED and HI as shown in Figure 12. 2. The RING T ONE has two pitch settings: LO and HI . Hold T o put the line on hold, press the HOLD button and return the handset to its cradle.
Using Your Dialogue XL-50 (Continued) Unansw er ed Call/V oice Mail Messag e Light If you subscribe to voice mail messag- ing with your telephone company , this light flashes if you have a mes- sage waiting. Note: T o turn on or off the V oice Mail feature, adjust the switch under- neath the phone.
Special Features (Continued) Pr ogramming the Memory Buttons Y ou can automatically dial twelve programmed telephone numbers using the memor y buttons shown in Figure 17. Each button can be pro- grammed (or reprogrammed using the same procedure) for a phone number up to 15 digits long.
Special Features (Continued) Direct Audio Output The AUDIO OUTPUT socket allows you to connect the Dialogue XL-50 to a hearing aid, neck loop, cochlear implant or other assistive listening devices. T o use this port, plug in a compatible auxiliar y cable and connect it to your assistive listening device.
T r oubleshooting Chart The DIALOGUE XL-50 has been registered with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and complies with the standards in Part 68 of the FCC Rules. FCC compliant telephone cords and modular plugs are provided with this telephone.
Warranty This warranty applies only to Ameriphone products that are purchased and used in the United States or Canada. Ameriphone warrants the Dialogue XL-50 tele- phone against any defect in materials or work- manship for the period of one year from the date of purchase.
