6 C O O K T O P U S E Cooktop C ontrols The control knobs can be set to anywhere between HI and LO. Push in a nd tu rn to settin g. On some mo dels, the su rface co oking area locator shows which element is tur ned on. Use th e following chart as a gui de when setti ng heat leve ls.
7 Cookware IMPORT AN T : Do not l eave empty cookware on a hot su rface cooking area, element or surface burne r . Ideal cookware should have a fl at bottom, strai ght sides and a well-fittin g lid, a nd the material shoul d be of medi um-to-he avy thick ness.
8 T i me r The Timer can be set in minute s and second s or hours and minutes an d counts down th e set time. The Timer d oes not start or stop the oven. To S e t : 1. Press TIME R. The colon will flash during Timer p rogrammi ng. 2. Press the “ up” or “down” arrow pads to set l ength of tim e.
9 P ositioning Racks and Bakeware IMPORT AN T : T o avoid permanent damage to the porcelai n finish, do not p lace food or bakeware directly on the oven door or bottom. RACK S NOTE S: ■ Position racks before turning on the oven. ■ Do not move racks with ba kewar e on them.
10 Baki ng and R oasti ng Before baking and roast ing, position th e racks according to the “Positioni ng Racks and Bakew ar e” section. When roasting, it is not necess ary to wait for the oven t o preheat before puttin g food in, u nles s r e com mende d in the r eci pe.
