SECTION 2 — INTRODUCTION The X 4I is a spec iali zed con troll er d esig ned to prov ide safe, reliab le, and energy -effici ent control of y our compresse d air syste m. The X4I is ca pable of contr olling up to four positive displacement air compre ssors.
5 • Carry out the following op erations before opening or removing any access panels or car rying out any work on t he X4I: i. Isol ate the X4 I from th e main electrical pow er supply. Lock t he isolator in th e “OFF” positio n and re move the fuse s.
SECTION 4 — INSTALLATION It is recommended t hat installation and commissioning be carr ied out by a n author ized and tr ained pr oduct supplier. UNIT LOCATION The X4I can be mounted on a wall using conventional bolts. The X4I ca n be located r emotel y from the compressors as long as it is wit hin 330 feet (100 meters) of cable length.
POWER SUPPLY 7 A fuse d switching isolator must be i nstalle d to the mai n incoming power supply, ext ernal to th e X4 I. T he is olat or must be fitted wi th a pr operly si zed fuse t o provi de adeq uate p rote ction to th e po wer sup ply c able u sed ( in accordanc e with local electric al and safety regulati ons).
PRESSURE SENSOR CO NNECTION The pre ssure sensor connects t o terminal X05 of the X4I terminal P CB using a shield ed 18 AWG maximum 2- conductor cable no more than 330 feet (100 meters) in length. The transducer threads are BPT. It is the equiva lent o f ¼” NPT.
Consult the air compressor manua l or your air compressor supplier/ specialist for details be fore installing the X 4I. Each air compressor must be e quipped w ith an online/offl ine pre ssure regulat.
RUN INPU T 0V RUN READY ALARM +V MAIN (LINE) CONTACTOR C04 Run Signal Circuit The RUN input will accept 12V to 250V AC (50/60Hz) only. DC cannot be used. Do n ot con ne ct a vo lta ge g rea ter th an 2 50V to th is input. 12V to 250Vac must be applied t o the “run” ter minals when the compressor motor is running.
OUTPUT FUNCTIONS 11 The X4I will control the IR-PCB load/unload relay output s based on t he active syst em load an d unload pre ssure setpoi nts. The IR-PCB load/unload re lay contact s can be used for compr essor cont rollers that have electr o- mechani cal pressure switch loa d/unload re gulation.
