3 SAFETY INFORMATION This manual provides important information for al l personnel involved w ith the safe i nstallation, operatio n and proper maintenance of this p roduct. Even i f you feel you are familiar with this or s imilar equip ment, you should read and understand this manual b efore op erating the product.
4 SAFE OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS The following warn ings and operating instructions are intended to avoid unsafe operatin g practices w hich m ight lead to indury or pro perty damage. INGERSOLL -RAND recognizes that m ost co mpanies who u se hoists and trolle y safet y progra m in force at their facility.
5 INSTALLATION Prior to installing the hoist, ca refully inspect it for possible shipping damage. Hoists are supp lied fully l ubricated from t he factory.
6 Overload Dev ice Overload pro tection is integrated into the motor body and is standard o n -E version s. T he overload s ystem is based on detection of t he difference in air p ressure between the inlet and o utlet ports. It consists of a valve which is nor mally closed.

16 OPERATION The four most important aspec ts of hoist oper ation are: 1. Follow all safety instruction s when oper ating the hoist. 2. Allow o nly people trained in safety and op eratio n of this product to oper ate the hoist. 3. Subject each hoist to a regular inspection and maintenance progra m .
17 INSPECTION WARNING • All new, altered or modified equip ment should be inspected and tested by per sonnel instructed in sa fety, operation and maintenance of this equipment to ensure safe opera tion at rated specifica tions before placing equipment in service.
18 Periodic Inspection frequency of per iodic inspec tion d epends on se verity o f usage: NORMAL HEAVY SEVERE yearly semiannually quarterl y Disassembly may be required for HEAVY or SEVERE usage. Keep accumulative written r ecords of period ic inspections to provide a basis for continuing evaluation.
19 LUBRICATION To ensure continued satisfacto ry o peration of the hoist, all points requiring lubricatio n m ust be serviced with the correct lubricant at the proper time intervals indicated for each assembly. Correct l ubrication is one o f t he most important factors in maintai ning efficie nt operation.
20 MAINTENANCE W A RNING • Never perform maintenance on the hoist w hile it is supporting a load. • Before performing maintenance, tag con trols: DANGER - DO NOT OPERATE - EQUIPMENT BEING REPAIRED. • O nly allow personnel trained in operation and service of this hoist to perform maintenance.
21 Disassembly WARNING • Discon nect the air s upply hose before performing any maintenance or repa irs on this hoist. General Instructions All maintenance work do ne on the Liftchain hois t should be performed o n a benc h i n a clean dust free work area.
