JVS0235X DCA SYSTEM OPERA TION Always pay attention to the operation of the vehicle and be ready to manually decelerate to maintain the proper following distance. The Distance Control Assist (DCA) system may not be able to decelerate the vehicle under some circumstanc es.
5-82 Starting and driving SSD0252 The detection zone of the sensor is limited. A vehicle ahead must be in the detection zone for the system to operate. A vehicle ahead may move outside of the detection zone due to its position within the same lane of travel.
SSD0253 When driving on some roads, such as winding, hilly, curved, narrow roads, or roads which are under construction, the sensor may detect vehicles in a different lane, or may temporarily not detect a vehicle traveling ahead. This may cause the system to work inappropriately.

5-96 Starting and driving JVS0296X JVS0297X WARNING . The radar sensor may not detect a second vehicle when the vehicle ahead is being towed. . When the distance to the vehicle ahead is too close, the beam of the radar sensor is obstructed.
JVS0298X WARNING . The radar sensor may not detect a second vehicle when driving on a steep downhill slope or on roads with sharp curves. . Excessive noise will interfere with the warning tone sound, and it may not be heard.
5-98 Starting and driving Action to take: When the above conditions no longer exist, the predictive forward collision warning system will resume automatically .
CAUTION During the first 1,200 miles (2,000 km), follow these recommendations to obtain maximum engine performance and ensure the future reliability and economy of your new vehicle. Failure to follow these recommendations may result in shortened engine life and reduced engine performanc e.
5-100 Starting and driving 6. Plan for the shortest route. . Utilize a map or navigation system to determine the best route to save time. 7. Avoid idling. . Shutting off your engine when safe for stops exceeding 30-60 seconds saves fuel and reduces emissions.
If any malfunction occurs in the Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system while the engine is running, warning messages appear in the vehicle information display. JVS0228M If the “ AWD Error ” warning * 1 appears, there may be a malfunction in the Intelli- gent AWD system.
5-102 Starting and driving . Do not attempt to tes t an AWD equipped vehicle on a 2-wheel dynamometer (such as the dynamometers used by some states for emissions testing) or similar equipment even if the other two wheels are raised off the ground.
SD1006MA WARNING . Do not stop or park the vehicle over flammable materials such as dry grass, waste paper or rags. They may ignite and cause a fire. . Never leave the engine running while the vehicle is unattended. . Do not leave children unattended inside the vehicle.
5-104 Starting and driving HYDRAULIC POWER STEERING TYPE WARNING If the engine is not running or is turned off while driving, the power assist for the steering will not work. reduced and the steering wheel may be slightly turned even when driving on a straight road. This is to prevent overheat- ing of the direct adaptive steering system and protect it from getting damaged. When the temperature of the direct adaptive steering system cools down, the power assist level will return to normal.
5-106 Starting and driving BRAKING PRECAUTIONS The brake system has two separate hy- draulic circuits. If one circuit malfunctions, you will still have braking at two wheels. V acuum assisted brakes The brake booster aids braking by using engine vacuum.
BRAKE ASSIST When the force applied to the brake pedal exceeds a certain level, the Brake Assist is activated generating greater braking force than a conventional brake booster even with light pedal force . WARNING The Brake Assist is only an aid to assist braking operation and is not a collision warning or avoidance device.
5-108 Starting and driving tion in the brake pedal. This is normal and does not indicate a malfunction. If the computer senses a malfunction, it switches the ABS off and illuminates the ABS warning light on the instrument panel. The brake system then operates normally, but without anti-loc k assistance.
