7 Know y our Timer (KD643G only) CL OCKF ACE The timer incorporates a 24 hour clock. Ensure the correct time of day is alw ays set, before using y our coo ker . SYMBOLS A ‘bell’ symbol will light up when you select a Minute Minder Period and will remain lit for the period set.

9 Elec tronic Clock & A utomatic Oven T imer Operation (KD643G only) Step 3 Press and hold in the C ook Period button. The display will read 0.00 with the ‘ cookpot ’ symbol lit. Step 4 With the Cook P eriod button still held in, set the required Coo k Period using the “+” and “–” buttons.

When cooking Automatically the Cook P eriod can be checked at an y time simply by pressing the Cook Period button. 2. When cooking Automatically the End Time can be checked at any t ime by simply pr essing the End Time button.
The hotplate has two high speed burners and two simmering burners which will accommodate pans between 100mm (4”) and 230mm (9”) diameter . All pans should be positioned centrally ov er the burners.
13 SAFET Y REQUIREMENTS FOR DEEP F A T FRYING 1. Nev er fill chip pans more than one third full with oil or fat . 2. Nev er leave oil or fat unattended during the heating or c ooli ng period. 3. Nev er heat fat or fr y with a lid on the pan. 4. A lways dry food thoroughly before frying, and low er it slowly into the hot oil or fat.
14 T O USE THE GRILL 1. Check that the electricity supply is switched on. 2. Open the top ov en/gr ill door and remove the grill pan. 3. Remove the heat shield fr om the rear of the shelf for maximum grilling area. 4. Place shelf in chosen position. Refer t o gr illing chart.
Grilling can be star ted from cold but f or best results prehea t for appro ximately two minutes. Most cooking is done with the heat on full, but it may be desirable to r educe it for thicker pieces of meat or f or k eeping food warm. Models KD643G and KD641G only : There are 5 shelf positions av ailable for grilling.
The oven has diff erent heat zones – the thermostat settings refer t o the temperature on the middle shelf position; above this shelf it is hotter and belo w it is cooler . T wo shelves provide fiv e possible cook ing levels enabling full use of the different temperatures inside the o ven.
The following times and setting ar e for guidance only . Y ou may wish to alter the setting t o give a result more to your sa tisfac tion. When a different setting to t hat sho wn below is given in a recipe, the recipe instructions should be followed .

The ‘Slow C ook ’ setting is used for slow cooking, keeping food warm and warming plates for short periods. Set the main oven thermostat to ‘S’ or ‘90˚C ’. USING THE ‘SL OW C OOK’ SET TING FOR SLO W COOKING 1. All dishes cooked by the ‘Slow C ook ’ setting should be cooked for a minimum 6 hours.
The top ov en can be used to cook small quantities of food or us ed in conjunction with the main oven t o provide additional cooking space. The shelf in the top ov en has a heat shield fitted at the rear . The shield can be removed for cleaning and grilling , but must be replaced when using the oven.

Before moving y our cooker ensure that it is c ool and note that it is heavy (appro ximately 70 kg 155 lbs), so you ma y require assistance . T o move the cooker forward, open the t op oven/grill door and with both hands posit ioned under the roof of the compartment, lift and pull for ward.
24 C OOKER FINISH CLEANING METHOD Vitreous Enamel Hotplate , pan suppor ts, hotplate front trim, burner caps, roasting dish, grill pan, main oven base , inside of grill compartment, inside of doors. Cloth wrung out in warm soapy water . Stubborn stains can be remov ed with a cream paste, liquid cleaner or by rubbing with fine steel wool soap pads.
25 Take particular care not to damage the inner sur face of the door inner glass that is coated with a hea t reflec tive la yer . Do not use scouring pad s, or abrasiv e powder , which will scrat ch the glass. Ensure that the glass panel is not subjected to any sharp mechanical blo ws.

(KD643G only) Cannot set an “ Auto C ook ” programme or cannot get the timer to turn the ov en on or off at the required times . Read the Timer instructions in this book carefully remembering that the Cook period is the length of time that the timer will switch the ov en(s) on as par t of an Auto Cooking Programme .
Prior to installation, ensur e that the local distribution conditions (nature of the gas and gas pressure) and the adjustment conditions ar e compatible. The adjustment conditions for this appliance ar e stated on the data badge which is fitted on the back panel.

SP ACE FOR FIXING The cooker can be close fitted below hotplat e level. This requires a minimum distance of 600mm between cupboard units of hotplat e height. When installing next to a tall cupboard , par tition or wall, for a minimum distance of 400mm above hotplat e level, allow a side clearance of at least 65mm.
UNP ACKING THE C OOKER Unpack the components from inside the grill and ov en. Check that the follo wing par ts are present: Grill pan and grid T op oven/grill shelf heat shield ( Models KD643G and KD6.
C ONNECTING TO GAS SUPPL Y The cooker is designed to match the depth of standar d 600mm wor ktops. An adaptor backplate should, theref ore, be fitted within the shaded area sho wn to allow the cooker to be pushed fully to the wall. Connection to the cooker should be made with an approv ed appliance flexible connection to BS 669.
Connection to the electricity supply should be made via a properly ear thed, readily accessible wall socket which is adjacent to but not directly above , and not more than 1.25m away from the appliance and capable of electrical isolation. The mains lead should be routed such that it cannot t ouch hot par ts of the cooker i.
INST ALLA TION AND OPERA TIONAL CHECKS After installation, check for gas soundness . The supply pressur e can be checked at the grill injector . Access to the injector is by first remo ving the baffle at the front of the grill fastened by two screws .
