1 Abo ut th e McPC 1 0/100 The McPC TX/ FX is an IEEE 802 .3 single-conver sion PC me dia converter car d that converts: • 10Base-T twi sted pair and 10Ba se-FL mul ti-mode or singl e mo de fiber, or • 100Base-TX tw isted pair an d 100Base- FX multi m ode or single mode fiber.

4 Modes of Opera tion (PCI Version) The McPC 10/100 features three modes of operation: Auto Negoti ation mode (AN) , For ce-10 m ode and Force-100 mod e . Configure the McPC 10/100 for one of these modes ( facto ry defa ult is Auto Ne goti ation mode).

Auto Negoti ation (PCI Version) When connecting two M cPC 10/100s between two en d stations (devices such as sw itches , hubs and rep eaters) , all de vices in th e medi a conversio n should ideally support, an d be utilizing, Auto Negotiation functi onality.
6 When the Mc PC 10/100 is in one of the Force modes, enable LFD by setting 5 to the ON position. Disable LFD by resetting 5 to its default , OFF , position. In or der for LFD to function properly, Force mode must be e nabled by setting 7 to ON wit h either 8 ON for 10 Mbp s or 8 OFF for100 Mbp s.

9 Configuring the McPC 10/ 100 (ISA Version) Before install ing, confi gure McPC 10 /100 for desired features using the DIP Swit ch located as shown below on the printed cir cuit board (PCB). The following illustration shows the loc ati on of the DIP S witc h as well as its default settings.
