FX Lin kLoss, TX LinkLoss, Li nk Fault Pas s-Through, Far End Fa ult and Fibe rA lert iMcV-LIM modules include the tro ubleshooting features FiberAlert, TXLL, FXLL, FEF and LFPT that help locate silent failure s on a network.
Link F ault P ass-T hrou gh ( LFPT ) Link Fault Pass-Through (LFPT) is a trou bleshooting feature that combines TX and FX LinkLoss from bot h the local an d remote i McV-LIM mo dules. LFPT is enable d by turning on b oth FX and T X LinkLoss on both m odules.
FiberAlert and Far End Fault Modules s hip fr om the f actory wit h troubl eshootin g features disable d. Refer to the help file to e nable/di sable this f eature. Fibe rA lert (F A) Fib erAlert minimizes th e problems asso ciated wi th th e loss of one strand of fiber.
FEF versus FA FEF is preferred when the devices at both ends of the fiber can interpret the FEF signal. This all ows FEF t o be turned on at both ends, whic h will engage t he FEF regardless of which directi on the fault occurs.
Auto Nego tiation on i McV-LIM iMcV-L IM modules i nclude the f eatur e Auto Negoti ation. When Au to Negotiat ion is enabled, the mo dule negotiates as a 100 Mb ps full-duplex device. If the conne cted device can operate at 100 Mb ps full-duplex, a link is established.
LED Operation Each iMcV-LIM module features diagn ostic LEDs that provide information on features and ports. FEF Glows green w hen a fiber en d fault is dete ct ed . TXLL Glows green when TX LinkLoss i s enabled on the port. Blinks when a fault occurs on the copper port and ac tively di sables the fiber port.
Installat ion Tro ubles hoot ing • During installation, first test the fiber and twiste d pair connecti ons with all troubleshooting features disable d, then enable these features, if desire d, just before final in stallati on. This will reduce the fe atures’ interference wi th testing.
