1 Abou t the IE -iMcV -MultiW ay The IE-iMc V-MultiWay is a CPE device, availa ble as a modul ar device provi ding tw o fix ed 10/100/ 1000Base-T copper ports a nd 2 SFP ports.
2 About IE -iMcV -MultiW ay Feat ures and Config uration The IE-iMcV-Mul tiWay offers a full fea ture se t inclu ding Auto Negoti ation, Sele ctive Advertisin g, Aut oCross, VLANs, SN MP manage ment, loopba ck testin g and OAM. Uni t software updates can be d ownloaded thro ugh TFTP or iView 2 (iC onfi g view) .
3 When usin g iView 2 , the IE -iMcV-MultiW ay can be fully man aged without an IP address using a secure manage ment channel. Howeve r, an IP addre ss can be assi gned thro ugh iVi ew2 (iCo nfig v iew), the CLI or Telnet using the default IP address of 10 .
4 About iVie w 2 (iConfig view) iVie w 2 (iConfig view) is an in-band utili ty created by IMC Net works, used f or SNMP configuration for IMC Networks ’ SNMP-manag eable devices.
5 DIP Switch Selectable Mode Co nfiguration The IE-iMcV-MultiWay can be configured in one of the f ollowing ways via DIP Switc h settings (see page 6): Config uration Method Description 4-Port Switch (default) In this mode, t he unit acts as a stand ard 4-p ort MAC-layer s witch.

7 LED Operation Each IE-iMcV-M ultiWay includes SFP and RJ-45 LEDs. (TX 1, TX 2) LNK/ACT FDX SFP A, SFP B OAM ACTIVE LNK FLT Glows green whe n a link is established on the TX port; blinks green when activ ity is detected on th e TX port.
8 Configu ration The IE-iMcV-MultiW ay inclu des many features tha t are con figurable via a serial/Telnet se ssion (CLI) or through iView ² (SNM P Managem ent view or iConfig view). Configu ration Options The follow ing options are configurable through both the iView 2 (iConfig vie w) and Serial/Telne t.
9 Basi c Device Configura tion Using the CLI After running through an initial self tes t, th e scre en will display the foll owing message: Press Enter for Device C onfiguration.
10 This screen contains the following inf ormation and options: Saved and Current Values Sav ed values display the chang es made d uring the curr ent sessio n and cur rent valu es display the val ues .

12 Deleting Communi ty Strings To delete all co mmunity string s, perform the follo wing: Press U . The "Are you sure y ou want to delete all future str ings?" prompt is displaye d. Press Y when promp ted to proce ed and delete all comm unity strings, N to abor t.
13 DHCP Disable (Static IP Addr essing) DHCP is disabled in the default configuration. Initially, modules are assigne d a Static default IP Address of 10.10.10. 10. Chan ges to the Static I P Address can be a dded manually throug h iView 2 (iConfig view) o r a Consol e session.
14 Commands List (Space Bar) The IE-iMcV-MultiWay also includes several device-specific options. To access these options, p ress the Space Bar from the Main Co nfiguratio n screen, type t he name of the action to be perf ormed (as shown be low) and press Enter .

16 After the transfe r process is complete, press Enter to lo ad the conf igurat ion fi le: Once loaded into the device's SNM P memo ry area, the system prompts the use r to reboot the device to make the new configu ration active.
17 Viewi ng Port S tatist ics To v iew port statist ics on t he IE-iM cV-MultiWa y, enter ifstats . This will op en a screen displaying in form ation on packets rece ived and t ransmi tted as defined by M IB-II standard R FC 1213. Pressing the Space Bar will refresh the dat a on th e scree n.
18 Version Entering version will display the version of the firmware operat ing the IE-iMcV- MultiWay. Settings s hould be s aved prior t o reboot. Reboot Entering reboot will s ave se ttings and rebo ot the IE-iMcV -Multi Way. Viewi ng SFP Stat istics To view SFP stat istics on the IE -iMcV-MultiW ay, enter sfpstats.
19 Port Configura tion Serial/Telnet sessions display port status as well as allowing conf iguration of some port features. Type por t and press Enter to be take n to the Port screen. From this screen, vi ew the po rt speed , dupl ex and li nk statu s.
20 Adv erti s e Flo wC and Force FlowCtrl - This is the FlowC ontrol feature . • When using FlowControl fun ctionality on any port, e nable Gl obal FlowCon trol. Th en, configu re each po rt ind ividua lly. • Whe n usi ng Auto Nego tiat ion and Flow Cont ro l, set Advertise FlowC to Advertis e Flow and set Force FlowCtrl to Flow Auto.
21 Operat ional Mode Con figuration Th ere are two modes of operati on that can b e configur ed through th e Seria l/Telnet session: Mode 1, which supports a mixture of tagged an d unta gged traffic, an d Mode 2 Extra ta gging. The configuration screen is acce ssed by typing vlan and pressing Enter from the Additional Commands screen.
22 Operation Mode 2 Port Based Xtra Tagging Any port can be con figure d for extra t ags on t he fram es. Press the down arrow on the computer ke yboard to access the add itional configuration comm an.
23 VLAN Configuration The ports can b e assigne d as a tr unk or acce ss port. When configuring a tr unk port, an Ethertype ca n be user-defined (a trunk port is also define d a s a pro vi der p ort bas e d on 8 02.
24 OAM AH (Operation and Admi nistration Management) Two modes of operations c ontrol the OAM fun ction, Passive and Active. Passive mode is the defa ult mode. OAM AH passive/active is available on the fiber SFP ports and TX ports • Supports Discovery functions on the SFP ports.
25 Usi ng iV iew 2 iVi ew² is IMC Networ ks’ management softw are, prov iding network management in an easy to use Graphical User Interface (G U I). Once iVie w² is installe d on a n etwork management PC using a Windows operating system, use the Start menu to ac cess iView².
