9-10 333559 09/08 The electrical sy stem is a 12 volt, negative ground. Recommended ba ttery size is a garden tractor BCI group UIR with 225 or bett er cranking AMP ra ting. A maintenance-f ree battery is recommende d. Otherwise, fo l- low battery manufacture r ’s maintena nce, safety , storing, and charging specifica tion.
333559 09/08 9-11 battery voltage. If the b attery voltage is satisfact ory , check the cleanliness and tightness of the terminals and ground connection s. A general u nderst anding of ele ctric al servic ing and use o f basic test equipment is neces- sary for troubleshooting and repair .
9-12 333559 09/08 The Hustler Fas T rak is equipped with two Hydro-Gear EZT integrate d pump/motor transmissions (FIG . 5). The EZT integrated pump/mo tor transmission are sealed for life and do not require any scheduled service. The EZT integrated pump/mo tor transmission s are fi lled with 20W50 en gine oil.
333559 09/08 9-13 WARNING: Gasoline is harmful or fatal if swallowed. Long-term exposure to va pors can cause serious injury and illne ss. Avoid prolonged breath ing of vapors. Keep fa ce away from nozzle and gas tank or fuel container opening. Keep gasoline a way from eyes and skin.
9-14 333559 09/08 DRAINING THE FUEL TANKS FasT raks have a fuel shut-off v alve (Hustler p/n 7480159) located behind the seat t o the right side of the operator (FIG . 10). Close this valve (center position) t o prevent fuel flow to the engine . The valve’ s two other positions are front and rear .
333559 09/08 9-15 Check engine oil daily and af ter every 4 hours of operat ion. Crankcase dip stick and oil filler tube ar located as shown in FIG . 1 1 & FIG . 12. T ractor must be setting level when checking oil. Refer to engine manual and maintenance sch edule for oil recommendation and cap acities.
9-16 333559 09/08 Engine mounting bolt s If the original engine moun ting bolt s are ever r emoved f rom th e trac tor , do not reuse. The original bolt s are self-t apping and if they are re-u sed they may try to cut new treads into the eng ine block mounting holes.
333559 09/08 9-17 bracket slot. This will relieve the tension on the deck belt idler spring (FIG . 14. 5. Pull the idler to the left of the mach ine to provide maximum belt clearance. 6. Remove the existing belt and re place with a new belt. 7. Route the new belt per FIG .

9-20 333559 09/08 Adjustments Introduction Y our FasT rak 36/42 was adjusted befo re it lef t the factor y and was checked during pre delivery s etup. How- ever , after start -up and continued use , a cert ain amount of break-in wear will cause some adjust ments t o change.
333559 09/08 9-21 WARNING: Onl y properly trained personnel sho uld attempt to reset the neutral adjustme nt on the FasTrak 36/42.This procedure requires that the engine b e running and th e drive wheels rotating during adjustment. WARNING: The adjustable steering rods are loca ted near th e EZT integrated pump/motor fans.
9-22 333559 09/08 supplied with the vehicle stands. 2. Remove the seat pan locknut as sh own in FIG . 4. T ilt the seat forward. T emporarily bypass the seat switch. 3. Loosen the fr ont dampener ball stud nut as shown in FIG . 24. The dampener will be adjusted and tightened af ter neutral is reset.

9-24 333559 09/08 Deck drive belt adjustment The spindle belt tension re mains constant b y means of a tension idler and spring (FIG . 26).
