8 8 INST ALLA TION What Y ou Need T his thermostat includes two #8 screws and two w all anchors for mounting. T o install your thermostat, you should have the following tools and materials . ■ Phillips and Slotted Screwdrivers ■ Hammer ■ Electric drill and 3/16" bit ■ T wo 1.
10 10 INST ALLA TION T able A NO TE: Do not connect a “Common” wire (sometimes labeled “C”) to any terminal on this thermostat. Tape up the wire and do not use.
12 12 INST ALLA TION Connect Wires and Mount Thermostat Cover to W all Plate ■ Match and connect the labeled wires to the appro- priate coded terminal screws on the wallplate . (See F igure 4, 5.) Ignore any wires which may be present, but which were not connected to the old thermostat.
14 14 PROGRAMMING Setting Time and Day ■ T he LCD will show this information when batteries are first installed, or after the Reset button is pressed. T he temperature will update after a few seconds . ■ During time and day setting mode , the temperature and program displays will go blank.
16 16 PROGRAMMING Setting Time and Day (continued) 12 HR. / 24 HR. TIME FORMA T Y our thermostat is set from the factory in normal 12 (AM / PM) time format. T o change to 24 hour (military) time, press program at any time while the Hour , Minute , or Day is flashing to toggle between the 12 hour and 24 hour formats.
18 18 PROGRAMMING Manual Programming ■ Y our thermostat can be programmed for week- days and week ends, or have unique programs for all 7 days . Use Weekday/W eek end Programming below or 7-day Programming on page 21 to enter or revise programs to match your Personal Pro- gram Schedule .

24 24 OPERA TION System Selector Switch T he System Selector switch on the front of the thermostat determines the operating mode of the thermostat. Y ou may select COOL, OFF , HEA T .
26 26 OPERA TION Permanent Manual Override To hold your Manual Override for vacation or just an extended period of time: ■ Press to mak e the current program temperature the HOLD temperature. HOLD will be displayed on the LCD , and the Program number will disappear .
28 28 OPERA TION Home T oday T his Hunter patented feature allows you to quickly and temporarily override your energy saving program setting on days when you are normally away from home with one k ey press. ■ Press to enter the Home T oday override .
30 30 OPERA TION Energy Monitor energy Usage Hr Min T oday energy T he Energy monitor feature measures and stores the amount of time the heating and air conditioning sys- tem operates. Usage can be displayed for T oday (since 12am), Y esterday , This Week (since Monday), Last W eek (last Monday through Sunday), and T otal (up to 999 Hrs.
32 32 OPERA TION F or example , in Heat mode, you could have the follow- ing programs: Program #4 (Overnight) Program #1 (Morning) Set T emp = 60 ° F Set T emp = 68 ° F T ime = 10pm Time = 6am T he room temperature fell to 60 ° F overnight.
34 34 OPERA TION SP AN Setting Mode Y our thermostat is set at the factory to cycle at 1˚F (0.5˚C) above and below the set temperature . (Span = 2) T his setting has been designed to pro- vide a comfortable room temperature under most all conditions .
36 36 SAFETY FEA TURES Low Battery W arning ■ Y our thermostat has a two-stage low battery warning system. When the batteries are first detected to be weak, the first stage low battery warning is indicated by battery symbol flashing on the LCD display .
