5 SECTION I - GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND CONST RUCTION GENERAL DESCRIPTION This manual describes a pack aged electric water heater system designed to meet the requirem ents of ANSI Z358.
6 TEMPERATURE H IGH LIM IT SWITCH As a safety dev ice, a surface mounted high tem perature cut-off switch with m anual reset is supplied. As an option, an imm ersion high temp erature cut-off switch with m anual reset may be prov ided. Either high temperature cut- out switch is factory preset at 190°F.
7 OPTION S The following optional features may be included in y our water heater. Reference included drawing specific to your heater for further details. Low Temperature Alarm Dry C ontacts A low temperature therm ostat is available with dry contacts to rem otely alarm when the tank water tem perature falls below a specified setpoint.
8 PIPIN G IN STAL LA TION NOTE: The most effectiv e means for preventing deterioration from accelerated corrosion due to g alvanic and stray current is the installation of dielectric fittings/unions. The installation of these fittings is the responsibility of the installing contractor.
9 FILLI NG THE HEATER 1. Com pletely close the drain valve. 2. Open the hig hest tepid water outlet to allow all air to escape from piping. 3. The black plastic knob on the air v ent valve m ust be opened two turns to allow air to escape from the system .
10 QUARTERLY I NSPECTIO N 3. Monitor thermostat a. Let water heater com pletely heat to a designated therm ostat setting. b. After therm ostat satisfies (that is, when the therm ostat actually clicks off), draw w ater from the relief val ve.

19 MAGNETIC CONTACTO R (3-P HASE O NLY) 1. Disconnect power from unit. 2. Disconnect line and load wires to contactor. 3. Disconnect two (2) 14 gaug e control circuit wires. Control Wires Line Wires Load Wires 4. Loosen two (2) holding screws and rem ove contactor.
20 RELIEF VALVE 1. Disconnect power from unit. 2. Shut off incoming water supply. 3. Lift test lever on relief v alve to relieve pressure in tank. 4. Disconnect overflow piping . 5. Unscrew relief v alve, remov e assemb ly and replace with new one. 6.
21 MIXING VALVE 1. Disconnect power from unit. 2. Shut off incoming water supply. 3. Lift test lever on relief v alve to relieve pressure in tank. 4. Drain tank. 5. Disconnect unions on both sides of the mixing valv e. 6. Remov e mixing valv e. 7. Replace m ixing v alve.
