1 1 Connecting the Cabl es and Getting S tarted Thank you for pur chasing the HUA WEI HG53 3 Home Gate way (hereinafter referred to as the H G53 3). Y ou can go online usi ng the ADSL, LAN, and data card services . However , you can only use one t ype of servic e at one time.

3 1.2.2 Getting S tarted After connecting the c ables, p res s the O n /O ff but ton on the side panel to power on the HG 53 3. T he WA N indic ator li ght turns on. This indicat es that the HG 53 3 is working properly . When the WA N indicat or light starts blinking, d ata is being transmitted between the HG 53 3 and the con nected device.
4 1.3.2 Getting S tarted Press down the O n /O ff butt on on the side of the H G53 3 to po wer on the HG53 3. T he USB indic ator light t urns on , t his indicat es that the HG 53 3 is working properly . When the USB indicator l igh t sta rts blink ing, d ata is bein g transmitted between the HG 53 3 and the con nected device.
5 2 Setting Network- Access Parameters 2.1 Logging In to Web- based Confi guration Utility The HG533 provides an easy - to - use w eb - based configurati on utili ty .

8 3. Select Enable for W AN connection . 4. Enter the VP I and VCI paramet ers that are provide d by the net work operator in the VPI/VCI text boxes . 5. Select I NTE RNET from t he Service list . 6. Select Brid ge from the Connection type drop - down comb o box.
9 Y ou need to perf orm the preceding operations onl y once for creat ing a network conne ction. After the net work connection is cr eated, t o access the network, doubl e - click the ico n for the dial - u p connection, a nd then click Connect in the displayed dialog bo x.
10 5. Enter th e user name and p ass word that are provi ded by the network operat or in the User name and P as sw o rd text boxes . 6. K eep the defau lt settings of other parameter s. 7. Click Submit . After complet ing the precedin g configuratio n steps, you can begin bro wsing the Interne t.
11 2. Click Create a new connection in Netw ork Tasks to displa y the N ew Connec tion Wizard window, and then c lick Next . 3. Select Connect to the Inter net , and then cl ick Next . 4. Select Set up my connect ion manually , and then click Next . 5.
12 1. Choose the UPL INK page. 2. S elect the HSP A Backup check box . 3. Click Submit . Step 4 Set the uplink wor king mode. 1. Choose the UMT S page . 2. S elect 3G First from the M obile Connec tion Type dr op - dow n combo box . 3. Click Submit . Step 5 Ve rify the PIN code of your SIM c ard .

14 3 Accessing the Network Wirelessly 3.1 Setting Up a Wireless Connection by Pressing Button s The HG533 suppor ts the Wi - Fi Protec ted Setup (W PS) function. I f your network adapt er also supports the W PS function, you can use the WP S function to set up a wireless c onnection bet ween your PC a nd the HG533 quickly .
15 3.2 Setting Up a Wireless Connection Manually If your net work adapter does not suppor t the WPS func tion, you can set up a wireless conn ection bet ween your PC and the H G533 m anuall y .
16 10. Click Submit to save the setti ngs. Step 3 Enable the wireless configur ation servic e provided b y Windows XP. 1. Right -click My C omputer , and then choose M anage from the shortcut menu. 2. In the Computer Manageme nt window, choose Comput er Management (L ocal) > S er vices and Applicati ons > Ser vices .
17 After the password is authenticated, Connected is displayed in the upper right corner of the W LAN icon in the WLAN list, which indicat es that a wireless connection is set up between you r PC and the HG533 . 8. Close the W ire less Netw ork Conn ection dialog box.
18 4 Configuring the C ommonly Used Functions 4.1 Enabling or Disabl ing the Wirel ess Network Funct ion Y ou can choose both of the follo wing methods t o enable or disable the wireless net work func.
19 The WLAN indi cator turn s on i ndicates t hat the wireless network function is ena bled. 4.2 Using the Home Stor age Function After a portable storage devi ce is connecte d to the USB port on the rear panel of the HG533, you can configure t he HG533 throu gh the samba service to acce ss the portable storage dev ice .
20 1. Choose Start > Run on your computer to display the R un dialog box . 2. Enter 192.168.1.1 usb1 in t he Open t ext box and click OK to display Con necting to 192. 168.1.1 dialo g box . 3. Enter the u ser name and the p ass word that you set for loggi ng in to the samba ser ver and then cli ck Login .

22 5 Maintenance Guide 5.1 Changing the Admini strator Passwor d Used for Logging i n to the Web- based Configurat ion Utility For safet y reasons or to make t he password easy to remem ber , you can change the ad ministrator pass word for login after logg ing in to the w eb - based con figuration util ity .
23 If you forget you r user nam e or password, rest ore the HG533 to its default settings by pressing and holding t he R eset button for longer than 6 secon ds. Then, the user name and password t hat are used for lo gging in to the w eb - bas ed con figuration util ity are restored t o default values.
24 Step 4 After the PIN code is ver ified , s elect Change from the PIN operation drop - down combo box. Step 5 E nter the or iginal PIN numb er in the PIN t ext box. Step 6 Enter the Cur rent PIN code and the N ew PI N code. Then enter the ne w PIN again i n the Confirm PIN t ext box for confirmat ion.
25 T o log in to the w eb - ba sed con figuration util ity after you change th e IP address successfull y , you need t o launch the I nternet Explor er , and then enter the new IP address in the add ress bar .
26 6 F AQs How can I quic kly enable or di sable the wireless net work function? Press and hold the W L AN button for ov er one second, and then rele ase the button to enabl e or disable the wireless net work function. The W L AN indicator sho ws whether the wireless net work function is enabled.
