Operati ons 25 5. Lift and remo ve the access pan el. Turn the access panel over to locate the HP ProLiant D L180 Gen9 Server hood label. This label provides convenient access to component identi fication, LED status indic ators, and system mai nt enance switc h setting s information.

Setup 33 • Leave a minimum clearance of 63.5 cm (25 in) in front of the rack. • Leave a minimum clearance of 76.2 cm (30 in) behind the rack. • Leave a minimum clearance of 121.9 cm (48 in) from the back of the rack to the back of another rack or row of racks.

Setup 39 WARNING: To reduce the risk of elec tric shock o r damage to the equip ment: • Do not disable the power cord grounding plug. The grounding plug is an important safety feature. • P lug the power cord into a grounded (earthed) electrical outlet that is easily accessible at all times.
Setup 40 I nstallin g the operating s ystem This HP ProLiant server does not ship with provisioning media. E verything needed to manage and install the system software and firmwa re is preloa ded on the serve r. To operate properly, the server must have a supported operating system.

Wh en the system is powered on this pro cess might take a pproximately 2 ho urs. If a system power failure occ urs, a fully charged battery pac k pr ovides pow er for u p to 150 sec onds.

Hardware options i nstallation 76 CAUTION: Do not press do wn on the pro cessor. P ressing down on the p rocessor may cau se damage to the processor socket and the system board. Press only in the area indicated on the processor retaining bracket. CAUTION: Close and hold down the processor c over socket while closing the proces sor loc king levers.
Hardware options i nstallation 77 a. Position the heatsink on the processor backplate. b. Tighten one pair of diagonally opposite screws halfway , and then tighten the other pair of screws. c. Finish the i nstallatio n by completely tighten ing the scre ws in the same seq uence.
