Power Symptom Possible solution Computer does not turn off when the power button is pressed Press and hold the power button until the computer turns off. Symptom Possible solution Cursor does not respond to the arrow keys on the number keypad Press num lock on the keyboard to turn off num lock, so that the arrow keys on the number keypad can be used. Cursor does not respond to mouse movement 1. Press alt + tab to navigate to an open program.
Keyboard and mouse (wireless) Symptom Possible solution Wireless keyboard o r mouse does not work or is not detected ● Be sure that you are using the wi reless keybo ard or wirele ss mo use within range of the rece iver, approximately 10 meters (32 feet) for normal use, and within 30 cm (12 inches) during initial setup or for re-synchronization.
Speakers and sound Symptom Possible solution Volume is very low or unsatisfactory Be sure that you connected the speakers to the audio-out (lime green) jack on the back of the computer. (Additional audio jacks are use d for multiple-channe l speakers.
Software troubleshooting Symptom Possible solution To resolve software problems, try these methods: ● Turn the computer off completely, and then turn it on again. Th is is the easiest (and sometimes the best) solution. ● Update the drivers. See “Updating device drivers,” in the n ext entry.
Symptom Possible solution Software p rogram and hardware driver reinstallation If any of your factory-installed software programs or hardw are drivers are damaged , you can reinstall them by using HP Recovery Manager (select models only).
5 System Recovery System Recovery completely erase s and reformats the hard drive, del eting all data files you have created, and then reinstalls the operating system, programs, an d drivers that wer e installed at the factory. Therefore, you must m anually reinstall any software th at was installed afte r the compu ter left the factory.
4. From the St art sc reen, ty pe recovery , and then select HP Recov ery Manager . If prompted, click Yes to allow the program to continu e. 5. Select Windows Recovery Environment . 6. Follow the on-screen instructions. NOTE: If your system does not detect a r ecovery partition , it prompts you to insert recove ry media.

1. Turn the mouse up side down, and r otate the ball-cover rin g coun terclockwise to remove the ring and release the roller ba ll. 2. Rinse the roller bal l with soap a nd warm water. 3. Clean the rollers insi de the mous e with a cot ton swab dampened with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol.
