1 The basics To start using your tablet, follow these instructions: NOTE: For basic operating instructions, see the printed Quick Sta rt guide included in the box with your tablet. 1. Connect the micro USB cable to the ta blet and to the a dapter, and then connect the adap ter to a power outlet.
2 Using the on-screen keyboard 1. To open the on-screen keyboard, touch the text fi eld at the top of the screen. Type one o r more keywords, and then tap the magn ifying glass icon . 2. To use voice search, touch the microphone icon at the top of the screen, an d then speak one or more keywords.
3 Navigating the Home screen The Home screen p rovides a centra l location wh er e you can access information and email, browse the Web, stream videos, view photos, and ac cess social media websites. NOTE: The appearance of the Home screen may vary. ● Swipe down from the top to display notifications.
Icon Description (4) Home —Opens the central Home screen. ● To see a left or right Home screen, swipe to the le ft or right. ● To quickly return to the Home screen, touch the H ome icon. (5) Recent apps —Opens a list of apps that you have used recently.
4 Using apps and widgets Apps are shortcuts placed on th e Home screen and used to open applicatio ns installed on you r tablet. Widgets are apps with special fu nctionality that disp lays co ntent that is up dated frequently. You can view the updated co ntent without opening the widget.
Using the clock 1. Touch the All apps icon, and then touch the Clock icon. 2. To add the Clock to the Home screen, touch and hold the Clock icon until it appears on the Home screen. 3. To add an alarm, touch the Clock icon, tap Set alarm , and then follow the on-screen instructions.

6 Connecting to networks Connect to a wire less netw ork —Browse the Web, rea d your email, or perfor m other online activities. NOTE: You must be connected to a wireless network be fore you can connect to the Internet. 1. To connect to a wireless network, touch the All apps icon, an d then touch Settings .
7 Using Settings Use Settings for connecting to networks, se t pref erences, and find informa tion about your tabl et. ▲ To access Settings, touch the All apps icon, and then touch Settings . – or – Swipe down from the t op, and then touch the Settings icon.
● ACCOUNTS —Existing accounts are displayed. ◦ Add an email account o r another type of acco unt —Under ACCOUNTS , to uch + Add account , and the n follow the on-screen instruction s. ◦ Sync an acco unt —Under ACCOUNTS , touch the n ame of the account.
8 Securing your tablet To prevent ot hers from access ing the data on your tablet, selec t a screen lock met hod. Set a screen lock 1. To access Settings, touch the All apps icon, and then touch Settings . 2. Under PERSONAL , touch Security , and then under SCREEN SECURITY , to uch Screen lock .
