ProCur ve Switch 8200zl/5400zl/3500yl Series Ordering Guide.
The ProCurve S witch 8200zl/5400zl/3500y l series can pow er any de vice that adheres to the IEEE 802.3af standard. In addition, de vices using pre-standard Cisco PoE po wer can also be pow ered. The switches will a utomaticall y detect wha t type of pow er and how m uch is needed when a com patible device is pl ugged into the port.
Step 2: Determine your future pow er needs for the chassis, if an y . PoE pow er : If you w ould like to plan for future PoE pow er needs now , determine how m uch extra PoE po wer y ou might need. Add this to y our figure from Step 1. T able 1. Use this table to deter mine your PoE pow er needs from Steps 1 and 2.
4 Step 3: Determine the level of redundant pow er desired. See T able 2 for definitions of the different lev els of red undancy . No red undancy : Skip to Step 4. System po wer red undancy : S ystem power is the pow er needed to run the switching and routing functionality in the s witch— essentiall y ev erything except PoE.

7 ProCur ve 620 Redundant/ External Pow er Supply The ProCurve 620 Red undant/External Pow er Suppl y provides RPS and EPS po wer indi vid ually to tw o ProCurve 3500 s witches or RPS to tw o ProCurve 6200 or ProCurve 2900 switches. The ProCurv e 620 does not support the ProCurve 8200 or 5400 s witches.
There are tw o switch versi ons a vailable for each of the ProCurve S witch 5400s, ProCurve Switch 3500y l-24G-PWR, and ProCurve S witch 3500y l-48G-PWR—the Intelligent Edge s witch and the Premium Edge s witch. All the 5400 and 3500 switches shi p as Intelligent Edge switches.

P ar t 3: F ield-replaceable units Tw o parts—the management module and the fan tra y—for the 8200zl/5400zl switches are field-replaceable, meaning the customer can keep a spare onsite and replace the part themsel ves if the need arises.
Spare 8200zl System Suppor t Module The Switch 8200zl series requires a S ystem Support Mod ule (SSM), and spare modules can be ordered as it is a critical system component.
