CAUTION: To prevent possible server malfunction a nd damage to the equipment, multiprocessor configurations must contain proces sors with the same part number.
Hardware options installation 22 5. Remove the processor socket protective cover. Retain the cover for f uture use. CAUTION: Failure to completely open the processor reta ining latch prevents the processor from seating during installation, leading to hardware damage.
Hardware options installation 23 7. If the processor has separated from the in stallation tool, carefully re-insert th e processor in the tool. 8. Align the processor installation tool with the socket and install the processor. CAUTION: The processor is designed to fit one way into the socke t.
Hardware options installation 24 9. Press down firmly until the processor in stallation tool clicks and separates from the processor, and then remove the processor installation tool. 10. Close the processor retaining bracket and the processor retaining latch.
Hardware options installation 25 11. Remove the thermal interface prot ective cover from th e heatsink. 12. Align the tab on the processor retention bracke t with the alignment slot in the heatsink. CAUTION: Heatsink retaining screws shou ld be tightened in diagonally o pposite pairs (in an "X" pattern).

Software and configuration utilities 39 CD-ROM deployment CD-ROM deployment involves using a bootable CD that executes scripts to configure the hardware and install the OS. After the OS is conf igured, the server blade can access the network to locate the scripts and files necessary for deployment.
Software and configuration utilities 40 Diskette image deployment To deploy with a diskette image, the user create s a DOS-based network -enabled boot diskette that executes a script that configures the hardware and in stalls the OS. The diskette enables the server blade to access the required deployment scripts and files on the network.

SmartStart ha s been tested on many ProLiant server products, resulting in proven, re liable configurations.
