6 I NTRODUCTION Labels Every s canner has l abels and molded t ext locate d on the undersi de of the unit. The labels a nd text contai n important information s uch as th e unit’s date of manufactur e, serial number, C E and caution informa tion. Figure 5 p ro vides examples o f the label s and the molded t ext.

17 I NDICATOR S A udible When the Voy ager i s in operat ion, it provides audible fe edback. These sou nds indicate the status of the scanner . E ight sett ings are avail able for the ton e of the beep (normal, six alternate tones a nd no tone).

W hen the scanner 's IR detects m ove ment in the activ ation area ( see figure bel ow ), the laser will automatical ly turn on , preparin g the scanner for bar code recognition, decoding, and trans mission.
