2 - 32 Block Check Cha racter When this se lection i s set to Tr a n s m i t , the NCR Block Check Char acter (BCC) is ex pected with i ncoming me ssages and tran smitted wi th outgoing messag es. Defaul t = T ransmi t. NCR Prefix This selection allows y ou to program an NCR-specific prefix.

3 - 2 Good Re ad and E rror Indicat or s Beeper – Good Read The bee per ma y be progra mmed On or Off in respons e to a goo d read. T urning this option off , on ly turns off the beeper res ponse to a go od read indica tion. All error and menu bee ps are still audib le .
3 - 3 Beep er Pitc h – Good Read The bee per pitch codes modi fy the pitch (frequen cy) of the beep the scan- ner emi ts on a go od read. De f ault = Medium. Beepe r - T ransmit Or der The beeper tr ansmit or der determines wh en the goo d read bee p occurs .
3 - 4 Beeper Duration – Good Read The beeper dur ation codes mod ify the length of the beep the scann er emits on a go od read. Def ault = Normal. Number of Beeps – Good Read The number of b eeps of a good read can be pro gram med from 1 - 9. The same number of beeps wi ll be app lied to the beeper an d LED in response to a good read.
3 - 5 T o change the num ber of error beeps , scan the b ar code belo w and then scan a digit (1-9 ) bar code and the Save b ar code on the Programmi ng Chart inside the b ack cov er of this manual .
3 - 6 LED Indicat ors The g reen an d red LEDs c an be progr ammed to be On or Off and at d iff erent brightne ss le ve ls to ind icate v arious scanne r states . Use the fo llowin g bar codes to progr am the L ED indic ators. LED Settings Def ault = Red LED Off with Laser, Green LED On with Good Scan .
3 - 7 LED Brightness Def ault = Red High, G reen Hi gh. In-Sta nd and Out-Of- Stand Se ttings The fol lowing settings progr am the sc anner’ s b ehav ior when it is eit her in the stand, or out of th e stand (ha nd-held).
3 - 8 Caution: When w orking with In-Stand and Out-of-Sta nd settings, enab le the settings you want before disa bling those you do not want to use. If y ou disable s ettings firs t, you may prog ram the scan ner so it is u nable to read bar codes. i f this happens , power cycle the scan ner and scan the defaults bar code on page 1-6 .
3 - 9 Presen tation Mode wi th CodeGate® Out-of-Stand : When the sc anner is not in the stand, it automatical ly detects bar cod es and decodes them. How e v er , the d ata is not tr ansmitte d until y ou pull the trigger . The laser remain s on briefl y after the transm ission.
3 - 10 good read . If you sc an Do Not End Manual Ac tivation Afte r Good Read , the las er remain s on after a good read , but the trigger m ust be press ed to scan t he ne xt bar code .
3 - 11 CodeGate ® When Cod eGate is On , the trigger is used to allo w decoded d ata to be tra nsmitted to the host s ystem. The scanner remains o n, scanning and decodi ng bar co des, b ut the bar code data is not tr ansmi tted until the trig- ger is press ed.
3 - 12 End Object Detection After Good Re ad After a bar code is succes sfully dete cted and r ead from th e scanne r , the laser c an be prog rammed either to re main on and scan ning, or to tur n of f . When End Object Detec tion After Good Read is e nabl ed, the laser turns off and stops sc anning a fter a good read.
3 - 13 Objec t Detectio n Distan ce When the scanne r is in the stand an d yo u are usin g Object D etection Mode , yo u can set the dis tance ra nge f or detecting objects . Short sets the scann er to detec t objects appro ximatel y 5 inche s (12.7cm) a w a y from the nose.

5 - 3 Other Pr ogramming Selections Clear One Data Format This d eletes one data format for o ne symb ology. If you a re cleari ng the primary format, s can 0 from the Programming Chart insi de the bac k cover of this manual. If yo u are clearin g an alternate form at, scan 1 , 2 , or 3 , depending on the f ormat yo u are cl earing.
5 - 4 Data Format Edi tor Commands Send Commands Send all charac ters F1 Includ e in the o utput messa ge all of t he characters from the input mess age, starting from curren t cursor p osition, f ollowed by an inser t chara cter.
