T he d ri ver’s advanc ed f ront ai rbag system includes a seat posi tion sensor unde r t he sea t . If t he se at is too f ar f orward, the air bag wil l inf lat e wit h less f orce, regardless of the severity of t he impact. Y our f ront air bags are a lso a dva nced airb ags .
W hen t he airba g is t ur ned of f , a ‘‘pa ssenger airba g of f ’’ indicat or in th e ce n ter o f the da s h bo ard c o m es on ( see pa ge ).
T o get t he bes t prot ect ion f r om t he si de airbag s, f ron t seat o ccu pan ts shoul d wear t heir seat belts and sit upright and w ell ba ck in the ir se at s .
If t he side airba g of f indic at or comes on ( see pa ge ), have the passenge r sit upright . Once t he passenge r is out of t he a ir bag’s deployme nt pat h, t he syst em w ill tu rn th e ai rb ag ba ck o n , an d th e indica t or w ill go out .

− If t hey do, they could be very seriously injured in a crash. If you are not wearing a sea t belt in a cr a sh, y ou could be thrown f orward and crus h the child aga inst the dashboar d or a seat-b ack. If you are we arin g a sea t belt , t he c hild ca n be t or n f rom yo ur arms an d be serio us ly hurt or k illed.
W hen pr operly inst alle d, a rea r- f acing child seat may prev ent t he driv er or a f ront passenger f r om mo vin g their seat as f ar b ack as recomm ended , or f rom lo cking their seat-b ack in t he desi red po si tion .
Of the d if f eren t seats availab le , we rec ommend t hose t ha t hav e a f ive- poi nt harness system as sh own. In any of these situat ions, we st rongly r ecomme nd t hat you inst all t he child se at dire ct ly behind the f ront passenger’s seat, move the seat as f ar f orward as n eed ed, and le ave i t unoccupied.
In sea t ing posit ions and v ehicle s not equipped w it h L A T CH , a L A T C H- compat ible child seat ca n be inst alled using a sea t belt . What ever t ype of seat you ch oose, t o prov ide pr oper prot ect ion, a child seat shoul d meet t hree requir ement s: L ook f or FMV SS 213 or CMVSS 213 on t he box.
A child seat secured w ith a sea t belt should be insta lled a s f irmly as possi ble. However, it does no t need t o be ‘‘ rock solid.’’ Some side-t o-side moveme nt can be expect ed a nd should not reduce the c hild sea t ’s ef f ect iveness.
Y our vehicle is equipped w it h L A T CH ( low er anchors a nd t et her s f or chil d ren) at the o uter rear seats. T o inst a ll a L A T C H-compa t ible child seat : Plac e t he c hild sea t on t he v ehic le se a t, the n attac h the sea t to the lo wer anc ho rs acc ord in g to the child sea t maker ’s inst ruct ions.
Ot her L A T CH-c ompat ible seat s ha v e a f lexible -t ype connect or as show n abo ve. What ever t ype you have, f ollow th e ch i l d se at ma ke r’ s i ns tru cti o n s f or adjust ing or tight ening t he f it.
When not using t he L A T CH syst em, all chi ld seats must be secured t o the ve hicle w it h t he lap par t of a lap/ shoulder belt . Wi th the ch il d s ea t i n th e de si red sea t ing posit ion, r out e t he belt t hrough t he child sea t accor ding to the seat maker’s i nstruct ion s, th en in s er t the l atc h p l ate i nto the buckle.
A f te r c onf ir ming t hat t he be lt is locke d, gra b t he shoulder pa r t of the belt near the buckle, and pu ll up to rem o ve an y s lac k f rom the lap pa rt of t he be lt . R emembe r, if th e la p pa rt of th e be l t i s no t ti g h t, t he child seat will not be s ecur e.

If the p ass eng er’s f ron t airb ag inf lat es in a mod erat e to severe f r ont al collision, t he a irba g c an c ause ser ious injur ies to a child who is unres t ra ined, impr oper ly r est r aine d, si ttin g to o c l o se to th e ai rb ag , or ou t of posit ion.
T his could r es ult in serious neck injur ies dur ing a crash. Th i s c o u l d cause ver y ser ious inj uries during a crash . I t also inc reases the cha nce t h at t he c hild will s lide under t he belt in a cra sh a nd be injure d. If t hey do, they could be very seriously injured in a crash.

Ca rbon monoxide should not ent er t he vehi cl e i n no rmal dri vin g if you maint a in your vehic le prope rly and f ollow the inf orma t ion on t his pa ge. Protect t he keys f rom d irect sunlight , high t e mper at ur e, a nd high humidit y. D o n o td r o p t h ek e y so rs e th e a v y object s on them. K eep the keys away f r om l iqu ids. If t hey get wet, dry them immediat ely w it h a sof t cloth.
If t he system repeat edly do es no t rec ognize t he coding of your key, contact your d ealer. Do no t attem p t to al te r thi s sy s tem o r add oth e r de vi c es to i t. El ec tri c al problems could result t ha t may ma ke your vehi cle i nop erable.
