4 saf ety reasons. Y ou should nev er touch a sump pump or discharge piping while the pump is connected to electrical power and w ater is present. The pump should be disconnected from the electrical source before handling in all cases .
Basin and Cover The basin should not be less than 18 inches in diameter and 24 inches deep . Larger diameters are advisable in instances of increased pump capacity requirements: The basin should be located such that all water flo ws into the basin due to gra vity .
6 Chec k the nameplate for y our pump’ s head (HEAD), discharge v olume (CAP A CITY), speed (SPEED), motor v oltage and current. Other specifications are noted in the char t below: Dischar ge Motor .
7 Step 1 Inspection: Y our pump has been carefully pac kaged to pre vent damage during shipping. Howe ver , occasional damage does occur due to rough handling.
8 IMPOR T ANT INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE INST ALLA TION Failure to f ollow these instructions ma y cause serious bodily injury and/or pr oper ty damage. • Pumps are 115 V , 60 Hz and are g rounded to pre vent electrical shock. W ARNING: Risk of electr ic shock—this pump is supplied with a g rounding conductor and grounding-type attachment plug.
9 Ref er to the installation illustration on the f ollowing page f or the f ollowing instructions. Be cer tain sump basin is clean and all power to pump is shut off . If pump f ails to ope r ate prope r ly after installation, re f er to the trou b leshooting che c klist on page 1 4 or contact Honda ser vicing dealer .

14 POSSIBLE CA USES • Line circuit breaker is off , or fuse is blown or loose . • W ater le vel in sump has not reached turn-on lev el as indicated in installation dra wing. • Pump cord is not making contact in receptacle. • Float is stuck. It should oper ate freely in basin.
15 W ARNING: Pump w arranty becomes v oid if you remo v e motor housing, unscre w impeller , or otherwise remov e impeller seal. If pump does not operate properly , follo w the steps shown under T roub leshooting. For an y work on pump or s witch, alwa ys unplug power cor d(s).

Disassembl y and Assembl y Disassembl y When disassemb ling pump , hav e a piece of cardboard or wooden board ready to place the diff erent par ts on as you work. Do not pile par ts on top of each other . The y should be laid out neatly in rows . The O-ring and gasket can not be used again once the y are remov ed.
