8 9 KNOW YOUR BLOWER See Figures 1 - 2. Before attempting to use this product, familiarize yourself with all operating features and safety rules. BLOWER TUBE AND NOZZLE The blower tubes can be assembled and installed on the blower using no tools.
8 9 UNP ACKING This product r equires assembly . n Carefully remove the tool and any accessories from the box. Make sure that all items listed in the packing list ar e included. n Inspect the tool carefully to make sure no breakage or damage occurred during shipping.
10 11 ASSEMBL Y WARNING: Stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire before installing parts, making adjustments, cleaning, or when not in use. Failure to do so could result in possible serious personal injury. ASSEMBLING THE BLOWER TUBES See Figure 3.
10 11 ASSEMBL Y INST ALLING THE V ACUUM TUBES See Figures 6 - 7. TO INSTALL THE VACUUM TUBES: n Screw the upper and lower vacuum tubes together and tighten securely. n Loosen the door knob on the inlet cover door and open. Place the notch in the support arm of the upper vacuum tube under the hinge of the inlet cover door.
12 13 FILLING THE T ANK WARNING: Gasoline is extremely flammable and explosive. A fire or explosion from gasoline will burn you and others. Alwa ys sto p the eng ine befo re fi lling the fuel tank. Ne ver add fuel to a machine with a running or hot engine.
12 13 Fig. 9 OPERA TION ST ARTING AND STOPPING See Figure 8. Starting the product differs depending on whether the engine is cold or warm. TO START A COLD ENGINE: n Place the blower on a flat, bare surface. n Make sure cruise control is locked in the IDLE position.
14 15 OPERA TION Fig. 12 Fig. 11 � n Operate blower at the lowest possible throttle speed to do the job. �� n Check your equipment before operation, especially the muffler, air intakes, and air filters. �� n Use rakes and brooms to loosen debris before blowing.
14 15 OPERA TION n Hold the engine higher than the inlet end of the vacuum tube. n Always point vacuum tube downhill when working on a hillside. � n To avoid injury to the operator or unit, do not pick up rocks, broken glass, bottles, or other similar objects.
16 17 MAINTENANCE WARNING: When servic ing, use only identical Homelite rep lacement parts. Use of any other parts may create a hazard or cause product damage. WARNING: Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields during power tool operation or when blowing dust.
16 17 MAINTENANCE SP ARK ARRESTOR The muffler is equipped with a spark arrestor scr een inside muffler body . After extended use the screen can become dirty and you may need to have the muf fler replaced by an authorized servicing dealer . WARNING: Never run the blower without the spark arrestor in place.
