W hen you press 8 on the Initial Setup scr een, the tuner automatically cycles throug h all avail able channels in y our area and places them in memory .

This VCR uses VHS tapes onl y, whi ch are the most common type. Look for the VHS mar k on new or prerecorded tapes y ou buy.
Getting Started (Videotapes ) 31 Loading and Ejecting W hen you load a videocassette i nto the VCR, there is onl y one rig ht way! Most tapes show y ou the way with a li ttle arrow on the top side whic h should go in first. Push the videocassette g ently into the slot on the front of the VCR.

Then you'll know how to use the VCR when you need to-- or where in the m anual to find the instructi ons you forgot.
Basic Oper ations 33 A uto Tracking Pressing PLAY starts the auto tracking feature, which adjusts the tuning to eliminate static lines that may appear on the screen. Manual Tracking Scratched tapes or poorl y recorded tapes may requir e additional pictur e adjustment.

You may see some minor noise or interference on the screen. This is nor mal. After 5 minutes in PAUSE mode, the VCR automatically switches to STOP mode to protect the tape.
