Use to connect to an A/V A mplif ier that contains a Dolby Digital decoder or DTS decoder. (2) MIXED AUDIO OUT JACKS • Con nect to the Au dio input jacks of y our televisi on, audio/video receiv er, or VCR.
13 Connections Choosing a Connection The followin g show ex amples of connections commonl y used to connect th e DVD player w ith a TV and other components. Before Connectio n the DVD Player • A lway s turn off the DVD player, TV, and other com ponents before you conn ect or disco nnect any cables.
14 Connection to a TV (For Video) • M ethod 1 DVD Play er + TV with Video Input Jack • Method 2 DVD Player + TV w ith S-Video Input Jack (If the S- Video is selected in the VIDEO OUT SELECT .) Basic Functions Playing a Disc Before Playback • Turn on a TV and press the TV/VID EO button to se lect video m ode.
15 When y ou stop disc play , the player rem embers where y ou stopped, so w hen y ou press PLA Y again, it w ill pick up w here you left o ff ( unless the d isc is re moved, the STOP butto n is pre ssed twice o r the p l a yer is unplugge d.) NOTE • If th e player is left for an appr o ximate 5 min utes in pause m ode, it will stop.
16 (2X/4X/8X/16X/3 2 X/norm al speed, in ord er) on DVD. • Press th e REVERSE or FORWARD SEA RCH button on the rem ote and press again to s earch at a faster speed (4X/8X/n ormal speed i n order) on VCD an d CD. • To return to norm al speed playback , press the PLA Y/PAUSE button.
17 1 Play a VCD(v ersion 2.0) • The Menu screen will appear. 2 Use the num ber buttons to select the desired item. • Sim ply pressing the n umber buttons w ill enter the item . • With s ome VCDs, y ou can use th e PLAY/PAUSE, SKIP and RETURN bu ttons With som e VCDs, the RETURN button operation may be display ed using the mark .
18 Using the Display Function If y ou want to obtain the inf ormation on the title, chapter, tim e, audio configuration and subtitles in DVD play, press the PLAY button.To get information on the track and time in VCD or CD p lay, also press DISP LAY When Play ing a DVD 1 During play back, press th e DISPLAY button on the remote.
19 Using the REPEAT butto n 1 Press the REPEAT b utton on the remote. Repeat screen appears . 2 Select Chapter, Title or A-B using the L EFT /RIGHT button. • A -B Repeat 1 Press the REPE AT b utton. Select A- B on screen with th e LEFT/RIGHT button.
20 1 Press the MODE button. 2 Use the LEFT/RIGHT b utton to select PROGRAM. Press the ENTER button. 3 Use the LEFT/RIGHT b utton to select the first Chapter (or Tr ack) to ad d to program. Press the ENTER button. T he selected nu mbers appear in th e Program Order box.
21 A d vanced Functions Using the Disc View Function You can directly access the desired m usic or v ideo track w ithout usin g the men u. Track View (VCD) Displays the beginni ng view of each Track and th e T rack number. 1 Press the TOP MENU button durin g playback.
22 • When pressing the TOP MENU on DVD; The disc's Top Menu w ill come up. • When pres sing the TOP MENU on CD ; The un it enters the INTRO mode. INTRO lets y ou listen to the beg inning of each Track for about 10 secon ds. Selecting the Audio Language You ca n select a desir e d langua ge quickly and e asily with the AUDIO b utton.
23 When play ing a VCD In disc v ersion 2.0, th e MENU button w orks as a conversion s wit ch betw een MENU ON and MENU OFF mode. When playin g a VCD 1.1 or CD, the MENU button will not w ork. • This function depe nd s on wh at languages are enco d ed on the disc and may not work w ith all DVDs.

25 Using the Bookm ark Function (DVD/VCD) 1 During play back, press the BOOKMARK button on the rem ote. Then a marker w ill be displayed. 2 Use th e LEFT/RIGHT button to move to t he desired bookm ark icon . 3 When y ou reach the scene y ou wan t to mark, press the ENTER button.

27 Changing Setup Menu Using the Setup Menu The Setup Me nu lets you customize your DVD player by allow ing you to select vario us language p r eferences, set up a parental level, ev en adjust the play er to the type of television s creen you h ave. 1 Press the SETUP b utton on the rem ote in the stop mode.
28 2 Use the UP/DOWN button to select Play er Menu. 3 Press the ENTER b utton. 4 Use the UP/DOWN button to select 'ENGLISH' . 5 Press the ENT E R b utton. - ENGLISH is selected and the screen retu rns to Setup Menu - To mak e the Setu p Menu disappear, pres s the RETURN bu tton.
