4 AIR CONDITIONER INST ALLA TION General Information Split system air conditioners are designed only f or outdoor rooftop or ground le v el installations.
5 Connecting Refrigerant T ubing Between the Indoor & Outdoor Unit CA UTION: This system uses R-22 refrigerant which may contain POE oil. When servicing, co ver or seal openings to minimize the exposure of the refrigerant system to air to prevent accum ulation of moisture and other contaminants.
6 • The outdoor unit requires both power and control circuit electrical connections. Refer to the wiring diagram / schematic f or identification and location of outdoor unit field wiring interfaces (Figure 11, page 17).
7 System Cooling 1. Set the ther mostat’ s system mode to COOL and the f an mode to A UT O. Gradually low er the ther mostat temperature setpoint belo w room temperature and v erify the outdoor unit and indoor blower energiz e. 2. V erify blow er wheel is spinning in direction indicated by arrow .
8 CA UTION: The unit should never be operated without a filter in the return air system. Replace disposable filters with the same type and size. • Do not attempt to add additional oil to motors unequipped with oil tubes.
