3 990-1048, Rev ision 1 12/00 2: I NST A LLA TION The UPS has a “rack an d stack” desig n that provides tw o m ounting options. The UPS can be mou nted in a 19- inch equipm ent rack or stacked on a battery pack(s) m odel SU24RMXL BP2U. Hardware is provided for either option.

5 990-1048, Rev ision 1 12/00 Removing the Battery The battery is acces sible from the front of the UPS. This procedure requires a Phillips head screwdriver. 1. Use a screw drive r to remove the tw o battery door screw s and open the door (hi nged pane l).
990 -1048, R evisi on 1 12/ 00 6 4. Use the han dles on the si de of the UPS t o sup- port the unit. Due to the w eight of the UPS, tw o people are re- quired to install it in the rack. 5. In four- post mou nting each side of the UPS has a cleat that m ust slide into the groove on the rails.
7 990-1048, Rev ision 1 12/00 7. Unpack the bezel an d hold it w ith the cutout sec- tion on the right. A lign the tabs on th e side of the bezel w ith the slots on the front of the UPS and gently snap it into place. To connect an optional external battery pack (s) to the UPS, refer to the 2U Battery Pack User’s Manual for in struction s.
990 -1048, R evisi on 1 12/ 00 8 C ONNECTING P OWER AND E QUIPMENT TO THE UPS 1. Plug the UPS into a tw o-pole, th ree-w ire, grounding receptacle only . Avoid us ing extens ion cords and adapter plugs. Your UPS is not supplied with an inpu t line cord.

990 -1048, R evisi on 1 12/ 00 10 R EMOVING THE UPS FROM THE R AC K If y our UPS is moun ted in a rack and y ou are rem oving it f rom th e rack for transport: n Rem ove the four ornam ental screw s th at secure the un it to the rack. n Grasp the handle located on the front of the UPS and pull the u nit halfw ay ou t of the rack.
